View Full Version : Predict The Finals

timvp
06-07-2005, 03:38 AM
Congrats to Kori Ellis, xcoriate, Grande David and shelshor who all tied for first in the Conference Finals prediction contest. Now it's time to predict the Finals. This time it's a little harder. You have to predict each game's outcome and also give who you think will be the high-scorer in the series (including how many points he scores).

There is also a vBookie. Click here (http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17706) to go to that thread.

Thanks.

I have feeling the Pistons fans have some doubts about their team found this on their forum www.motownsports.com

"even come close to giving Ben a max deal next summer it will be the dumbest decision in Detroit sports history. Anything above 7-7.5 million a year would be terrible. His offense is the worst in the league and tears apart the offense and he plays like a moron. While his defense is obviously very good, he struggles man-on-man and has been absolutely worthless this series. He is 30 so he is passing his prime as we speak. I would be disgusted if we give him something big."

That's all I'm saying.
This will be a tough match up for Parker. Manu, Duncan, Bowen (his D on Rip and Chaucey will be crucial) and Horry (he'll wind up defending Prince, because no one else will be able to) will be the reasons we win.

I have ALOT of respect for the Pistons but the Spurs overall TEAM
is superior. This Spur TEAM is better than last year and better than the 03
team that beat the Champions from the year before, the Lakers 02.

Does anyone know enough NBA history to know when was the last time two great defensive teams played in the finals?

I believe everyone at least in S.A. was expecting this matchup since last year.
I for one DO appreciate that both teams will be playing at both ends of the court.

This will be REAL basketball!!!!!!Finally!

The Spurs finally get the recognition they've been denied. The entire northeast media finally sees what the rest of the west has seen. The one intangible no one ever mentions, but I'm sure Carmelo, Ray and Shawn will readily tell you about, will balance the court in favor of the Spurs, for every game.

Spurs in a sweep.

How do you get Kori tieing for the win in the prediction contest in the Conference finals???

She had Spurs in 6 and Heat in 7. One wrong entirely, and 1 right but not in the correst number of games.

I had Spurs in 5 and Pistons in 6. I was right exactly in Spurs series(3rd straight time) :smokin and 1 a game off in my Detroit prediction.

Game 2 Spurs in close win, maybe OT. (2-0)

Game 3 Pistons in close win (2-1)

Game 4 Spurs in close win (3-1)

Game 5 Pistons win (3-2)

Game 6 Spurs win in OT, maybe double OT. (4-2)

Spurs in 6, Manu has most points in a game(33), but TD gets his 3rd Finals MVP hardware.

I know, the freaking turncoat bastards picked a freaking Sun over Manu who I picked, who I believe was the 2nd leading scorer in the series...I was sooo close to winning..... :depressed

BTW, there should be some kind of prize for picking the Spurs correctly in every series thus far. I believe only two of us have done that....so the Finals will be the tiebreaker in that contest betw us two for best Spurs predictor. I feel this is a much better measuring stick to see just exactly which of us in here knows this team's play more than anyone in here. :smokin

Holy shit. Rascal, is that you? I guess you have to pick the Spurs in 2/4 series to make it balanced.

Anyhow, will you finally cheer the Spurs, or at least show some positivity in this series on this board?

If rascal picks the Spurs in the playoffs against a tough opponent, then you know there is a good chance the Spurs will win :lol
Nice to have rascal back, after he repeatedly said the suns would kick the Spurs' ass.

The Spurs and Piston are nearly identical in the structure of their teams and how they play.

They are both good defensive minded teams....but the edge IMHO goes to the Spurs with their depth.....and being better offensively.

Some are saying the Pistons are bigger upfront and deeper....lest we foget that we still have Rasho, TMass, GRob on the bench...that we can play on the Wallaces.

TMass IMO can match up well Ben as can Rasho plus they can rebound......Big Dog can play in spots and draw Ben out of the paint because he can shoot the "J" and that could help open the lane for TP, Manu, Beno, etc.

The games will all be close and there will be no blowouts......

Me too. But even with our great home record in the regular season, we do tend to drop a home game every now and then in the playoffs and I think game 1 might be the Pistons best shot.

Detroit is not consistent. Spurs are consistent. I know this is probably wishful thinking, but I do not see any reason we cannot sweep them in the Finals. Unless something terrible happens to Duncan or Ginobili, we should have no probelm.

Nobody got all of them, but here are the one's who predicted Spurs in 7 games.

Noteables who didn't make it:
Jimcs surprisingly didn't edit his prediction so that he would win.
Sequ who predicted Spurs in 4, "too easy" (actually Sequ said "to easy" :) )

I was pretty close - maybe "closest to the pin" but close only counts in horseshoes, hand grenades, and 7 game series (sorry Pistons fans, you came close).
