Tbh DiCaprio's acting in Shutter Island was overshadowed by Inception when it was just as good. That movie woulda been sick if it wasn't ruined by a retarded ending.

The way they dragged it out made it even worse. Should have been a half hour shorter.

I like a lot of DiCaprio's work in recent years, but I've yet to see a performance of his that matches his work in What's Eating Gilbert Grape? or This Boy's Life. His acting has become much more labored as his career has developed.

His performance in The Basketball Diaries is underrated

Truth. That ending was a total mind fuck. I liked it for about 2 seconds, and then I was just pissed off.

I celebrate his entire catalog, I know it backwards and forwards.

IMHO here's his top 5

1. Catch Me If You Can
2. The Departed
3. The Aviator
4. Shutter Island
5. What's Eating Gilbert Grape?

Catch Me If You Can was, I think, the first think of his I liked after Titanic over-saturation. Really fun performance.

I'll second the Catch Me If You Can nomination. Really didn't care for Tom Hanks in that one though.

Russel Crowe hasn't had a good movie lately.

The best actor today is Tom Cruise. He's got such range. He can be a hotshot pilot, a hotshot under cover spec ops dude, a hot shot lawyer, a hot shot brother of a retard or a hot shot cripple guy.

I thought he was excellent in Blood Diamond, and agree Catch Me was a great role too.

While his performance in The Aviator was impressive, he was about 10 years too young for me to fully buy the performance.

Catch Me If You Can and The Aviator are my favorites of his. Of course, 13 years ago I wouldn't be saying this because of that shit storm that was Titanic.

I've never seen Titanic, but can it possibly be worse than Romeo + Juliet? I watched it with my son a couple of years ago as part of an assignment he had on Shakespeare; it was kinda like torture. That's about the dumbest way to introduce a teenage boy to Shakespeare----totally backfired. Now he hates Shakespeare and DiCaprio!
