Parker and Conley are even out.
Battier can guard Manu effectively.
Randolph and Gasol are far better than our front court players.

There is no major difference between spurs 09-10 and spurs 10-11, so I wont be surpirsed if we are swept by Memphis.

Maybe when RJ was in New Jersey.
I personally really like Rudy. Super athletic, long, young, good defender. I'd take him over all the other small forwards the Spurs have at the moment. Which is two, the other being Butler, and maybe Green.
You're looking too far into RJ = Gay...I don't think he meant as a basketball player

The part where Pop answered that there wasn't much else he would change for game 2 has me worried. Actually I think what he meant was "much else he can do." Remember we are short team now and all we have is Timmy and won't see Splitter until it's too late. Spurs won statistically most important catagories and were sent to the line a lot and we still lost. Granted if some of those shots the Spurs took went in, then maybe it'd be a different story. However one must consider Memphis stepping up their game with confidence and not fouling as much or at least more calls going there way in Memphis. They are physical and that's where a lot of calls came from.

OP is an idiot....anyone who views TP vs Conley as even has no basketball IQ at all
Maybe Conley goes on to be as good a PG as Tony but at this point its not even an argument

Spurs shot 40% from the field while giving up 55% (and MEM got plenty of favorable bounces) and lost by 3 points? Why would he completely change what his plan is with that outcome? Of course there are going to be adjustments, but what he was saying is that he's not going to restructure his entire plan of attack based on a three point loss.
The only real adjustment that need to be made...keep them out of the paint. Easier said than done.

True, but in that last few minutes situation the Spurs of old would of made a stop, closed out Battier and the two threes by Bonner would of been enough to seal the victory. We have seen way too many close games being lost/blown by the Spurs this season. A troubling trend. Didn't think Phoenix would sweep the Spurs last year either. And Manu was hobbled then too.

Vaginas? No. Realistic? Ya, just not being a true homer cheerleader after seeing what I've seen this season and after game 1. Remember we are what we used to do to those Phoenix teams in the past. Run and gun small ball. Was especially evident against the Lakers in that game. Couldn't get a rebound, well this time we got rebounds but their length still hurt us.

The Spurs are the better team with Ginobili ... maybe even without him.
But the playoffs are rock-paper-scissors and Memphis is a bad matchup for the Spurs.

When you have people declaring the season over after one game..and even people calling for Pop to be fired - its hard not to do anything but laugh at some of the bullshit on here. Ive been around Spurs message boards for over a decade - the Spurs fanbase has gone soft and cries now like bitches and the first thing that goes wrong. Now even in a year the Spurs had the best record in the west and the #1 seed Pop is old, garbage, and needs to go after one playoff game where Manu didnt play. If one were to read this forum since even before the playoffs they would think the Spurs had one of the worst teams in the NBA. People have become spoiled and have too much feeling of entitlement with past success

Fire Pop? Hell no. But this isn't the same Spurs team. It's basically last year's playoff team with a better three point shooter, Neal. And a quicker offense led by the guards, one of which is missing or might be gimpy.

OKC is a way better matchup ... somehow the Spurs are able to defend them in a way that not Durant and Westbrook go wild, just one of them. OKC is larger now, but Perkins/Mohammed are nothing offensively compared to Gasol/Randolph

They lost game 1 to a short handed Hornets team after skidding the last few games.

Perkins/Mohammed/Ibaka provide defense in the interior. The same thing Gasol/Randolph are doing and giving Parker fits in the interior. Maybe Parker can change his drives in the paint to compensate. Only Parker knows what he can and can't do.

Perkins/Ibaka are superior on defense vs Randolph/Gasol ... but not offensively ... we haven't played this Thunder team yet to find out ... but hopefully we will in the second round !

It is always a good idea to form opinions of players based on 1 game - same guy TP scored 37 on this season - read the whole post - Conley may become a player on the same level of TP but to say there even right now is stupid - its not even an argument.

Conley is a very efficient player and a solid playmaker.
I know TP has a final MVP under his belt, but past performance may not be very relevant.
Conley is a decent player who had a nice game but he isnt Tony Parker. To think they are even is laughable

The game was not as close as the box score indicate tbh. I don't remember but the Grizz missed 12 or 16 FTs shooting an awful 63% meanwhile you shot 47 FTs at a good rate.
Their 55% is no fluke because they earned it in the paint, Rand and Gasol shot 70% ! The fact Mem got plenty of favorable bounces just show they were more agressive than us, they put themselves in a good situation to take advantage of that.
I'm not saying that Mem is the better team but I'm not buying the idea of a fluke win, its no fluke because its a win earned in the paint. The Manu come back won't change that domination. They built their lead on their bigs (49 pts) we have to respect that and to respect Mem.
This loss is a caricature of our weaknesses: perimeter D sucks (Manu presence will help though) and weak interior presence is lacking (Dice playing at his level would help too). The only good news of the loss was the fact our rebounding effort was good.

I think the current evidence suggests that the Grizzlies are the better team by virtue of the fact that they won the only game in the series. They played better offense, better defense, made the stops they needed to make and made the shots they needed to make. If you'd like to make a case otherwise, go right ahead.
