Any thoughts about this upcoming Romero flick?

I thought the re-make of Dawn of the Dead was pretty scary, due to the way the zombies could all sprint faster than Jamaal Lewis, the suspense, and gore.

The ending was also really tight.

What do you guys think of the new one? It should be pretty cool, the trailer doesnt give away much, but I like that.

I'm pumped about it. Dawn of the Dead (the original) is one of my favorite movies of all time, even outside the horror genre. I just hope they didn't have to "Hollywood it up" too much... I know it wasn't Romero's preference to have name actors like Hopper and Leguizamo involved.

Shaun

And i never saw that one.

I never thought the remake of Dawn of the Dead was hollywooded up...the only thing lame was the whole subplot with Mekheih Pfiefer and his zombie baby
so unless u count that...

I think this movie should be tight, i think i read somewhere that they did away with the 3l33t fast zombies though

That's right...Shaun of the Dead. Great flick! Funny as heck!

Shaun is having many problems in life. His long-time girlfriend has dumped him due to their almost daily expedition to Shaun's favourite pub, the Winchester. His temporary management job isn't going well at Foree Electronics, with his subordinates not even giving him the time of day. His deadbeat flatmates, Pete and Ed, are at each others throats. And, oh yeah, London is overrun with multitudes of zombies. In the midst of this, he must save himself, Ed, his ex, his mom, and his precious record collection. There is a time when a hero must rise... from his couch.

I had to watch SOTD twice, because the first time I was laughing so hard I missed half the dialogue!

Yeah SOTD was a great zombie/comedy flick. I'm hoping Land of the Dead is as good as Dawn of the Dead. But I agree that whole zombie baby subplot was a notch above stupid.

Man, I'm so pumped about this movie. I'm huge on the zombie flicks. Except with 28 Days Later. That movie McSucked.

Actually what I liked about that movie was the fact that the zombies changed quickly. Because in every zombie movie this series of events happens.......Person gets bit and nobody sees. Helps fight until all of a sudden he changes and takes down 3 people with him. The other part I liked was that was the first movie I can remember where zombies were fast. Unless I'm just missing one.

28 days later was a zombie movie they just had some modern more realistic explanation for the zombie disease/behavior.

I was not into accepting it as a comedy, and that was it's downfall with me.

It's arguable that the explanation was 'more realistic'

however

they basically used the same exact explanation that resident evil used, although resident evil came out 2 years earlier and still took the horror-fiction-zombie route, not the real-city-real-life route

same explanations though

Zombies by definition are the dead coming back to life. 28 Days Later involved people contracting a disease which causes them to go nuts.

It had similar elements to a zombie movie, sure, but I wouldn't call it a zombie movie any more than I would call Batman Begins a Superman movie.

I did not like Dawn very much, didnt live up to the hype IMO. I thought 28 days later was a great low-budget horror movie.

I hope The new onw is way better then Dawn, I thought Dawn sucked to be honest.

I'm going to lump 28 Days Later in with the zombie movie genre.

I would suggest the "Horror" genre.

Supposedly Romero also liked Shaun of the Dead and the character who played Shaun plays a zombie in this flick.

I just like the way they talk in Shaun of the Dead. Especially when they try to talk tough. I mean they do a good job, but I can't help but laugh at their accents. I'm sure they do the same to us.
