because pop thought there was a better chance to get an open 3 in transition than in an half court defense already set after a timeout

And if Manu doesn't go where there is already 2 defenders and pass back to Hill someone could have had this wide open shoot

Obviously it didn't worked

Bullshit, there's 7 seconds left and you can clearly see Pop signalling for a TO

You can't seriously think that a random 3 off a break when you're down 3 is a better option then a set play from a veteran team? wtf

I didn't said at all it was the right thing to do.

I just think it's what Pop should have thought.
Otherwise, why didn't he forced Manu to take the timeout ?

Pop said in the post game that he should've been all over the ref for a timeout, but hill pushed the ball too fast.....

WTF Pop

PoP: he wanted a timeout, it was his fault for not being quick enough to let the referees know

how many time did you saw this season a great play executed after a timeout for the final shoot ?

I remember the game winner (with a travel) against the bucks. And ??

I thought we were out of timeouts initially and that is why I thought they ran the ball.

Then when I realized we had a timeout I was fucking mad that one wasn't called. More dumb stuff from these guys.

Hill should have called a time out, once he dribbled he had to go past midcourt he passed the ball to Manu who also went brain dead, but lets face it this team has lost it's sense of purpose on the floor, and have totally disregaded their coach.

A time out would have stoped the clock and advanced the ball up the court for a set play but I guess Spurs were wanting to freewheel it. I would think that a set play that they have practiced would have been much better then Panic ball.

Ummm, for those who have been paying attention it isn't like our execution out of timeouts in the last 6 sec of a one possession game have been going swimmingly. Hell, the last one that worked that I can remember is the Dice tip in in LA.

Please... it's too much pain right now - then, this team was fearless and closing out opponents

This team's lack of poise and composure in late game situations is baffling. They look like an inexperienced, 25 win type team and they have for a few seasons. They looked like they had gotten back to what they used to be in those situations this season, but have been pathetic in the past month. They flat out panic.

It's inexcusable that Hill or Ginobili wouldn't call a timeout in that situation. I don't even recall either looking over to the bench. Another costly error by Ginobili that ends this team's season (whether they win this series or not, whatever chance they had at a championship is gone), all because he wanted to play hero.

I feel that it would be a much more preferable situation if we called a timeout and drew a play, especially when we have (supposedly) the best coach in the nba at drawing up plays out of a timeout.

fuck you pop

Pop should have called the TO right at the rebound when Hill got the ball. Once Hill moves with it they can't call anymore. Then I saw Manu asking for it while he was running to the front court as no TO had been called. It's was pretty surreal for what we are used to see from the Spurs.

No, it just reminds us how different those teams were from the one we have now. Those old teams out right refused to be pushed around and lose.

All season I've been saying that stupid plays in the closing minute were going to catch up with us. Missing a shot is one thing. Not getting a shot up is another. You can spin it any way you want to, but they didn't even get a fucking shot up with 6+ seconds left. There's no excuse for that, period. It only took D Fisher .4 seconds to do it to us.

A lot of that goes on Hill for taking off like he did. I don't know what the hell he was thinking. (I wonder if he even knew we were down by 3?) But someone else could and should have gotten one called with 2 or 3 seconds left. And even that would be enough to at least jack one to the rim. I wouldn't mind them going down swinging as much, but watching them dribble out the clock just feels like shit.

Judging by the last-second plays we've seen from this team recently, I'm not so sure the outcome would've been any more pleasant. Experience seems overrated with these guys.

Once Hill got the rebound a timeout should've been called! Ridiculous! Mistakes like that costs us the game!

It's on Pop, he should be there running after ref :)

If the players didn't call a timeout as some kind of a protest against Pop, then I'm all for it. That would actually be comforting news. But I don't think that's what it was.

The unfortunate truth is that our veteran sailboat of a team is rattled, and I think it's because the rudder has failed them - Popovich.

The Spurs have always trusted Popovich to make good decisions. Well, he's not making good ones right now by keeping Splitter nailed to the bench while Gasol and Zach do their Wilt and Kareem impressions. They look awfully good with Bonner guarding them.

Then again, I'd look pretty good with my grandmother guarding me. I would be confident on the court. If my grandmother was guarding me, I would have a swagger.

Gentleman...this is exactly what Matt Bonner gives the Memphis Grizzlies.

Everything was in a big mess. It was horrible and agonizing to see, numerous turnovers, poor spacing, no side to side, off/def rebounding, miscommunication, ineffective guard(s) production, stagnant offense, disheartening body language....and all this in the first 5 minutes, ha-ha!

BTW we lost grandpa last night. No, not what you're thinking. Antonio McDyess last night was the middle of Randolph-Duncan sandwich and as a result left the game with an injury to his neck. But no Tiago replacing him, DNP.
Wow-wwwww! =:0
