If there ever was a year when I felt like giving up on the Spurs alltogether, not because of an early playoff round or a loss, this has got to be the year.
This isn't a rant but my fairwell to this team. Im sorry but Im not going to be waisting my time watching this team through the next years of mediocracy to come.
Why this game does it for me...
Coaching
This team is in huge need of a head coach replacement, Popvich obviously is either getting bored of doing it or has lost his passion. This is clearly seen with his stubborness to play lineups that do not work even when everyone, including the average basketball fan, knows he ought to not.
Second, I have never seen a basketball team give up on a coach so early in the playoffs like I've seen tonight. Watching ginobili, duncan, and the rest of the team watch Battier shoot an uncontested 3pt shot deep in the 4th quarter when we needed a stop was just SICK. :( :vomit: This was clearly a sign that this team has had enough and is ready to make early vacation plans.
Third, Popovich would probably be a better GM without the pressure of being a coach, and concentrate on finding good talent and letting others utulize them in the best opportunities with a younger and eager coach. Mike Brown anyone?
Players
This young inexperienced group has clearly a long road ahead of them. One full of losing and dissapointments. As long as timmy is around, this team will no longer be a gurantee to make the playoffs, let alone get out of the first round.
Richard Jefferson
With so much promise shown during the beginning of the season, he has returned to same RJ we are used to hating, and this is not at all acceptable for me anymore. RJ is...well RJ. His acquisition has been part of our downfall.
Tony Parker
Fuck you Eva!
Ginobili
I always relied on you to be the Spurs adrenaline shot we needed when we were down, and although you have tried you just can't do it anymore. Have fun collecting your last two years worth of checks.
Duncan
Thank you Tim for bringing championship titles to San Antonio. Our thanks from the fans will always be there. I just wish your employeer was much more thankful. Sad to see your career end this way.
The rest...
is history. I know my Spurs, and they will not be advancing to the 2nd round of this years playoffs.
Quote me do whatever you want but lets face it, we couldn't do it last year, what makes you think we are going to do it this year.
The "I believe" threads will appear once again reappear prior to game 5 but they will not make a difference. Why am I being negative and saying this? Because it all comes back to our personell or lack thereof.
Everyone is welcomed to just on this farewell bandwagon and post their reasons for leaving the team.
For those staying put for the ride, you all are true die hard fans that stick through the decline.
I unfortunatly feel sad that I cannot any longer and that this team doesn't give me any hope going foward.
Farewell friends and I hope its not such a long sad offseason for those staying put.
