Tim Duncan and DeJuan Blair starting, McDyess the first big off the bench. The tinkering with the lineup that Pop chose to try towards the end of the season has proved to be disastrous. Guys learned to play a certain way with each other, and the proof is in the steady decline in 3pt shooting percentage, and increase in turnovers.

More than anything, this team needs a shot of confidence. If they win going back to the formula that produced the bulk of the 61 wins, then they might just be able to recapture some of that attitude and swagger they had when that offense was clicking on all cylinders. Squeaking out an ugly win played in a similiar fashion to the first four games won't get it either..it's about establishing the style of play that produced all season long, and having success with that style. Do it.

Exactly. Funny, other teams make in-game adjustments. Apparently the Spurs vaunted system is a house of cards.

The key word being adjustments. Not wholesale changes. You are what you are. Pop never gave the lineup he used for most of the season a chance..in fact, he fucked around with it well before the regular season ended, and it failed miserably. Using Splitter instead of Bonner to matchup better with the Memphis bigs would be an adjustment. Not playing Bair at all, taking Neal's minutes, playing guys together who weren't on the floor together all season are not adjustments, they are acts of desperation. Pop made this team desperate without ever finding out if the formula which produced the best record in the league for most of the season would work. Never even tried. Senseless.

I never understood the change. Yes, he wanted to increase McDyess' minutes for the playoffs... but he changed the staring lineup that was on course for a 70-win season and the Spurs' record plumetted after the allstar break because of it. Blair seemed to lose confidence and team chemistry was jacked. Add in a couple timely injuries and we were primed for a meltdown.

The biggest thing that people are not coming to reality with is that Pop and the FO has single-handedly aged TD in terms of basketball yrs. When Dave's yrs were winding down, they made a perfect move by getting another 7 footer and allow Dave to groom him. Worked perfectly!

This season IS tanked my friend. I didn't say anything about drafting a big....i said get a big. There a lot of moves that the Spurs could've made to obtain a good big man during the offseason or before the trade deadline. Bosh, Stoudemire, Gortat.....i can go on. And let's not bring up the whole Scola thingy again. Are you suggesting that none of these guys would have been good fits alongside TD?
