They've proven that they aren't discouraged. Hopefully this win makes the Spurs step up their level of play.
On the other hand they will be gutted by this loss. Now let's see if they can rebound.

The thing that is ironic about all this, winning this way was the BEST outcome the Spurs could hope for.
1. They got the win.
2. They crushed their hopes of closing this out with no pressure ...
3. Maybe those shots linger ....if the game is close in Game 6 ...
Only negative is no way Spurs get that many FT's in the 4th at the Fedex forum ...

Quite the opposite. This loss might be so demoralizing to their psyche, they might never recover. Like that Duncan 3 against the Suns.
Maybe, I just get the feeling they're gonna come out pissed with a ton of energy. That crowd is gonna be rockin. The Spurs can't afford to come out flat and get behind early. They better be ready.

If there was a way for Memphis to lose a game, this wasn't it. This has to be a little disheartening for them. Maybe they got too cocky, like Odom cocky.
Before the game I'm sure they were ok getting blown out by the Spurs in Game 5 and that would have been ok but losing like this, I'm not sure where their heads are going to be.

I'm proud of all the players who ROSE up when the season was on the line.
The players we knew we could count on, the big 3: Duncan, Ginobili, and Parker.
The role players who stepped up: McDyess, SPLITTER, Hill in the i believe the 4th, and GARY NEAL.
The other players, and you know who they are, once again showed their true nature by disappearing.
Thank God for the other players, the REAL SPURS.

Memphis has been pretty calm and poised this series; but they're still a relatively young team with very little playoff experience. I wonder how this will affect them? They have to be feeling pretty down right now. They had the game, and the Spurs just snatched it away from them. They have to be feeling a little less confident now.

A bg reason why the NBA is in such dire financial trouble is because they fuck up their marketing big time. They have had a team who exemplifies all the qualities of the throwback champions who the fans with money identify with yet they completely ignore them and do stupid shit like that commercial. The league is retarded, they've had something great and just shit on it yet wonder why the white middle aged fan with money doesn't relate to the league anymore.

Neal’s buzzer 3-pointer keeps Spurs alive (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/recap?gid=2011042724)
By Paul J. Weber
Just 1.7 seconds is all that remained for Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker in what has been a wasted and humiliating dud of a playoff run.
An undrafted rookie didn’t let them go down that quickly.
Catching the inbounds pass with 1.7 seconds left, Gary Neal forced overtime with a spectacular 3-pointer in the face of O.J. Mayo as time expired, and the top-seeded San Antonio Spurs staved off elimination by stunning the Memphis Grizzlies 110-103 on Wednesday night.
“It felt good. I knew I had good legs going into it,” Neal said. “It felt good. I followed through and it went in.”
The eighth-seeded Grizzlies still lead the best-of-seven series 3-2. They will host the Spurs on Friday night, but left town knowing they missed a knockout punch.
“They’re down by three, you’ve got to run them off the 3. You can’t let nobody shoot an open 3,” Grizzlies forward Zach Randolph said. “You’ve got to contest the 3, you’ve got to deny the ball.”
The straightaway 3-pointer was the second of two remarkable San Antonio baskets in the final 2.2 seconds of regulation. Manu Ginobili, who scored 33 points, hit the other with a long corner jumper while falling out of bounds in front of the Spurs bench, in what was originally ruled a 3.
A video replay confirmed Ginobili’s left toe was on the line. That left the Spurs still trailing 95-94, and after two free throws by Randolph, San Antonio needed another miracle.
Ginobili? Parker? Duncan, in perhaps a repeat of his memorable tying 3-pointer with 3 seconds left against Phoenix in the 2008 playoffs, before the Spurs went on to a double-overtime win?
Nope.
They drew it up for Neal, a 26-year-old rookie and former European journeyman who the Spurs signed this season after giving him an audition on their summer league team.
“You really don’t think about the magnitude of making or missing it, you just think about trying to get the best shot that you can get,” said Neal, who finished with seven points. “It went in today, but I think it’s the best shot I could have got in that situation.”
Randolph led Memphis with 26 points and 11 rebounds. He scored 18 points in the fourth quarter and overtime, but the Spurs assured a Game 6 in the overtime behind Parker, who scored 6 of his 24 in the extra period.
Only eight teams in NBA history have ever come back from a 3-1 deficit. The Spurs, who were the NBA’s winningest team for most of the season, are desperate to join that list in what may be their last good shot to win a fifth championship in the Duncan era.
Memphis remains on the verge of becoming just the fourth No. 8 seed in NBA history to win a playoff series. Not since Golden State upset Dallas in 2006 has a No. 8 seed toppled a No. 1 in the first round.
Marc Gasol had 11 points and 17 rebounds for Memphis, while Mike Conley scored 20 points and Sam Young added 18.
Duncan began the game in vintage playoff form, looking keenly aware of the stakes. He scored 11 points in the first 9 1/2 minutes, but scored just two the rest of the way. He had 12 rebounds.
Randolph, whose 3-pointer at the end of the Game 3 win gave the Grizzlies the momentum, hit another big shot with 13.7 seconds left in regulation. His 18-footer over Antonio McDyess put Memphis ahead 93-91, prompting Randolph to put his finger to his lips, hushing the crowd.
But the Spurs weren’t going down that quietly.
“Come on, we’re on the road. It wasn’t going to be easy,” Grizzlies forward Shane Battier said. “And we needed 48 minutes. We didn’t need 47 minutes and 59, 58 seconds and three-tenths. We needed the full 48 to get it done.”
Only 2.2 seconds is all the time the Spurs needed to make not only two of the biggest shots in this series, but in the NBA playoffs so far this postseason.
First up was Ginobili who, after snatching the ball following a botched, up-for-grabs inbounds pass, pivoted frantically to the corner in front of the Spurs bench and made a difficult shot while falling toward the baseline that initially looked like a 3-pointer.
The Spurs—and a crowd that included signs reading “The Dynasty Lives”— thought Ginobili’s incredible fallaway tied the game. But after a lengthy video review, the officials reversed it.
That still left San Antonio down one point, and Randolph stretched the lead back to 97-94 with two free throws. So with their season on the line the Spurs turned to Neal to try and send the game to overtime.
Neal caught the inbounds pass 3 feet behind the 3-point line, then squared up with Mayo running toward him.
The rest is now part of Spurs history.
“It’s hard to beat Tim Duncan’s 3 against Phoenix. Because Timmy’s a terrible 3-point shooter,” Parker said. “It’s hard to beat that one, but it’s definitely up there. It was definitely a crazy game. Especially like we made two buzzer shots: Manu and then Gary Neal.”
Notes: The Spurs are 2-7 in the playoffs dating to last season. … San Antonio avoided being eliminated on its home court for the third consecutive year.

San Antonio Spurs 110, Memphis Grizzlies 103: Neal before Zod! Spurs survive (http://www.48minutesofhell.com/san-antonio-spurs-110-memphis-grizzlies-103-neal-before-zod-spurs-survive)

AT&T CENTER–So far as first impressions go, Gary Neal left a hell of an impressive one tonight, rescuing the San Antonio Spurs from the brink of elimation in his first playoff series. Neal calmly drained a three-pointer from the top of the key as time expired in regulation.
Because of Neal the Spurs will live to see another day, which is a far cry from the impression he left with Manu Ginobili when he first arrived in San Antonio.
“It was mid-September and I was working out and he showed up one day. They told me that this was the new shooter,” Manu Ginobili said. “I’m not lying when I say that I saw him miss the first 20 shots he took. We were playing open gym and he was shooting confidently, but he wasn’t making one.
“Then he got used to playing with us and started feeling slowly that he belonged. And then he started showing us what he’s shown all season long. That was my first impression of him.”
Confidence has rarely been an issue with Neal–who ended a summer league (http://www.48minutesofhell.com/summer-league) game with a three-pointer in similar fashion–and it took little time for his teammates to find their confidence in him. Neal burst on the scene with the real team for the first time in Mexico City, where the same Manu Ginobili that watched him miss 20 consecutive shots diagrammed a game-winning three-pointer specifically for Neal (http://www.48minutesofhell.com/san-antonio-spurs-los-angeles-clippes-preseason-mexico-city).

How the Spurs nearly gave everything away (http://www.48minutesofhell.com/how-the-spurs-nearly-gave-everything-away)

48 Minutes of Hell
It’s difficult to imagine anyone demurring the game you just watched—the Spurs’ 110-103 OT defeat of the Memphis Grizzlies—as anything less than spectacular. The game, quite literally, pitted the San Antonio Spurs against history. And not simply the history that is this season—that was merely a subplot in the foreground—but against the big backdrop of history that began in 1999 and continues to the present. The 2011 playoffs are no longer about the San Antonio Spurs’ season. That would be too easy. The Spurs’ postseason play is now, perhaps inescapably, measured against an era. All eras must end.
But the Spurs nearly gave it away tonight; the Spurs flirted with that final jot of punctuation that will, eventually, close the book on something we’ve yet to fully appreciate. But we’re not there yet. And the Spurs narrowly escaped the undoing of themselves.
The Spurs, as you know, jumped out to an early lead. In the first half they were up as many as 16 points, but left for halftime with a meager 8 point advantage. The Grizzlies played a much better second half, and it seems the Spurs’ season would come to an end on the strength of Memphis’ third quarter, which they won 26-15. When the game shifted during the third, San Antonio’s postseason hopes appeared doomed. The end was near.

I don't know if it's my shitty internet connection or the feeds are really messed up but i couldn't watch the game properly. So could someone tell me if Tiago has been good defensively guarding gasol and ZBoar?

Doing the best he can given the task. Z-Bo got a jumper off on him to put the game up to 5 late in the 4th but he's done that to everyone in this series. He's competing from what I see as the Grizz bigs are going to get theirs, the most important thing to do is to rebound and he's done a good job of tipping and securing those. Imo, he gets a little lost when Memphis runs the PnR and is having a hard time contesting but hopefully he becomes more fluid as the the series rolls on.

This series would be sooooo much easier if we got something out of jefferson and bonner. These two clowns with their 5 pt. games don't do much to help out.

Has Jefferson laid the ball in the hole even once this series? Considering he's the most athletic guy on the court, that is pathetic.

Rewatching the Manu near-3 from last night. Seen him make at least a half dozen tougher shots in practice. Dude would kill at H-O-R-S-E.
