Who wants him? Don't see Denver reupping him. Also can't see a heap of teams who might want him.

I bet the Hornets take him back. They're doing anything to keep Paul happy, especially signing his friends.

I'd take him back if he wanted to keep his same role, which is a bench scorer. If he is expecting to be a starter, no.

Monty Williams is stubborn when it comes to offensive minded players who don't play solid defense (ie, Marcus Thorton). No way that he would start for the Hornets under Williams.

If CP3 is JR Smith's friend, the Hornets prolly don't want them both in the same city.

Tbh I see plenty of teams interested in him. There's such a small amount of legit talent in the NBA right now, anyone with as much talent as he has is gonna get plenty of decent offers. The Bulls could try and get him but I'm not sure if they have the veterans to make it work. Rose is a leader but he's also a gangbanger so paring him with Smith isn't a good idea.

I forget is Nene gonna be a free agent too? Given how good he's been this year I'd see him getting a massive contract as he still has the potential to get better. If OKC didn't trade for someone he hates he woulda been a perfect fit for them.

Nene has been fantastic. Wouldn't want JR anywhere near my team tho.

I say suns.
1. Uptempo team (I cant see Smith thriving in a controlled offense)
2. Nash and Hill would be great influences on him
3. There is a need if they let VC walk ...suns could use his scoring prowess and athleticism ...

Nene wants to stay - is married to some Denver woman. Also has some affinity with GK, must be a cancer thing. tbh I don't know why Denver hasn't reupped him already

Actually New Jersey Nets could be interested. They have a need for an explosive wing scorer. The Russian wants to bring talent and probably doesn't mind a wannabe thug as long as he can play. And the Russian can show what being a real gangsta is about. There's playing time. Isn't Jersey close to JR Smith's home? And playing for Jay-Z probably appeals to someone like JR Smith. There's opportunity and incentive.

:lol how would Nash and Hill be a good influence, they'd tell him to not worry about winning and playing defense?

I didnt say it would help him defensively, or make the Suns contenders. But let's say smith is signed to a modest deal because of his "behavior" that means he maybe has one more chance at a longterm contract. what better way to maxinmize his worth by putting up inflated numbers in a d'antoni type system? Yes playing with a tough minded, defensive focused coach/team would help balance out his game. But if he wants to get PAID ...i would seek a team that fits what he does well.

Like Jamstone i thought of the Nyets ...but I cant see him as a fit with Avery just like he would not be a fit with his mentor ...Popovich.

Jamstone did you factor the coach in when mentioned the Nets or were you just bullshitting? (real question)

Knicks are going to pursue him. They need another scorer.

Thornton was already better than Smith in my opinion. Mentally and phyiscally tougher. Plus can score in different ways. But he's not coming back to NOLA, so yeah I would try to sign Smith as a starter. Honestly, he struggled playing in the backcourt before with Paul because he just kept jacking shots and finally had to get benched and traded. I don't think he's changed too much, but he's still alot better now.

Yes I thought about that. I don't think that would keep Pokorhov from making the move if he really wanted Smith. He's the type of owner who does what he wants and doesn't want excuses. If he gives Avery JR Smith, he'll expect Avery to make it work, no excuses. It's all about whether he wants to pursue Smith or not, not whether Avery wants to coach him.

To be honest, if Thornton couldn't fit with Monty, I doubt Smith will. But the Hornets wanted him at the deadline.

S&T JR Smith for Richard Jefferson and SAS #1 pick (#29, 2011).
