All those who claimed :Alonzo Gee,James Gist, Garrett Temple (http://www.48minutesofhell.com/2010/07/19/garrett-temple-gregg-popovich-favorite-player-george-hill/), Bobby Simmons (http://twitter.com/#!/varner48MoH) are better picks than Gary Neal please raise your hands. And there were a lot in this forum.

I think a sincere apology is now due

those guys had potential but didnt live up to the spurs expectations

i dunno wtf ur on about calling out some fans who are highly on these selections when what was clearly needed on the roster at the time

Gee, gist and temple...you cant go wrong with any of those selections..

Those fans were not only high on Gee and company, they did not see the need to sign-up Neal at all much more have him get any PT at all. That's a far cry compared to the guy that just saved our season.

So absolutely those fans should be called out

So I'm assuming you made a strong argument for Neal based upon in-depth analysis, and also predicted he would be a key part of our team this season, pre-season?

This is getting retarded.

Neal did well this year, and he hit a big shot. I remember when RMJ hit that shot in Phoenix, people acted like he was the second coming of the Iceman. Neal is a good player, good acquisition for the money, but until last night, he was just a rookie shooter. He's still a rookie shooter. So he made a big shot, that doesn't make him a better player.

Neal has been amazing, and I'm more than pleased to have been wrong about him. Nice that Pop finally had a crush on a player that could actually play for a fucking change.

I never guess right on players anyway. I thought Walt Williams was going to be the next great guard and I thought that fat tub of shit from Georgetown (I forget his name) was going to be the next great center.

While Neal is no all star and is not good enough to start ( no one is suggesting he is that good) he is absolutly better han Gee, Gist and company . Last I check those guys are not even in the league.

So yeah Neal does deserve all the credit he is now getting . For a guy who is being paid pennies for NBA standard he certainly is earning his pay and far exceeded what anyone expected of him. I for one felt he could win a a playoff game for us ( a la steve kerr) but certainly din't expect him to be this good.

I still don't get it. When you say "this good", did he stage a one man comeback or just hit the game tying shot?

Sorry, I was on a flight from Burbank when the game was on so I only got updates in Phoenix and on the runway in Austin.

You don't have to be an all-star to make a huge impact in the playoffs.
