View Full Version : What name would you give to historic Game 5?

I know fans will have a definite perspective of what Gary Neal's shot meant for the 2010-11 Spurs only after the series is over, but I'm impatient. And just like the "Memorial Day Miracle," I think this game deserves a name.

If the Spurs lose Game 6 and the series, I think this game should be called "The Last Stand." Now if the Spurs win the series ... what do you name it?

It won't mean much if they lose the series.. but you could call it the "neal with it" or the "servivor" or the "Fat lady can't sing in SA"

Replace "much" with "nothing" and replace "series" with "championship" for it to be compared with "Memorial Day Miracle".

I like the positive thinking OP.

"Not Yet Neal" or "Neal Biting Bucket". IDK

"The Neal and Prayer"????

Just took it from Solid D's thread, thought that headline was catchy.

"The Seal of Neal". If we win.

"the last stand" reminds me of COD WM2.

i will say "final stand" if we win. you survive from death and live forever with this perk.

Nothing if we don't win the series.

The game was so newsworthy, they even had a segment and showed "The Shots" here in the New York local news... which is as rare as you're going to get...

NBA TV called it "Refuse to lose" when they showed the replay.

Personally, I'll only consider naming this game if the Spurs manage to win the series. Otherwise it's a throwaway moment in a wasted season.

Sorry to be a downer, or really just a realist, but for now we can just call it: Game 5; Round 1

If the Spurs spend a lot of the season on a 70 win pace only to lose in the first round, we'll call it "Nealaying the Inevitable".

We didnt name barrys bounce in 3 or Tims 3 pter. Big shots in only get names during championship years.

True that, but if those shots had missed, it was only a game the Spurs would have lost, not the series. This shot ... and the shot that preceded it ... just so much drama to stave off elimination ...

I read a tweet which summed up the Memphis feeling exactly after that shot. It was the moment in which the terminator was without legs and without skin, but still crawling at you.

Unless the Spurs advance, it'll most likely be called "That game where Neal hit a ridiculous 3 to send it to overtime...y'know? First round against Memphis? 2011? Remember?"

quentin_compson

Unless the Spurs win this series, Game 5 won't be historic enough to deserve a nickname.
Although the already proposed "Nealaying the inevitable" would cover that fact as well, I'll have to admit. :lol
