Him healthy and improved over the whole year he could give Fisher and Blake a run together with Barea...

Let him. Who will he guard on the other end? Run a PG/SG pnr and he is on Kobe ...they play zone both Kobe and Fish can shoot over him ...

Depends.

Peja was on Wallace for some stretches too and he didnt do *such* a bad job. When he got beat he at elast delivered solid hard playoff fouls.

RC doesnt trust young guys, we have to see. I think just if Peja is stone cold for longer stretches

The 'champion' was last year... different team this season, different bench, different production...

Lakers hit their stride post All Star break for about 13 games, then shut off again... up to that point, Dallas was playing better than them... right now, I think Dallas is back to playing better than them...

The reality is that if this Lakers team would be playing anything like last season's team, they would have made quick work of that NO team...

Right. They won with a hobbled Bynum. He's healthy now. He's a difference maker.

The reality is that if this Lakers team would be playing anything like last season's team, they would have made quick work of that NO team...

Lakers have a history of underachieving against inferior teams only to snuff them out when they have to. If I remember right I think they are 8-1 closing teams out on the road in the playoffs.

lol @ hobbled Bynum... any other excuses you want to throw out there to make it sound more epic? Kobe hurt too? Knee, finger?

Last season Lakers team had a deeper bench that knew the system, they played much better all season long, to the point they had HCA locked way before the playoffs started, and could coast to it.

This Lakers team is not that Lakers team. Not even close.

Lakers have a history of underachieving against inferior teams only to snuff them out when they have to. Remember the Rockets series?

The west is a better this season. That same Rockets team didn't make the playoffs this time around. The only team that was as weak was NO, because they were missing West, and arguably Memphis (yeah, I know).

This Lakers team is not even close to sniffing a 3 peat, IMO.

It's amazing how cocky Laker fans are considering the WORST team in the playoffs outside of maybe a couple of bottom seeds in the East just took them to 6 games.

Equally amazing: Is anyone else just blown away that Dallas and LA have not met in the post-season in the Dirk era?

Does it matter now if they finish the Hornets in flying colors? Results are all that matter in the playoffs and as far as the rest of the league as concerned, they have delivered. They have advanced in the second round and are preparing for the encounter with Dallas. Meanwhile, the Sp*rs on the other hand........................ :lol :lol :lol

04-29-2011, 10:29 AM
I really think the backcourts will be the difference in this series. Dirk and Chandler/Haywood will more than offset Pau, Bynum and Odom which everybody believes to be the main Laker strength.

The problem is that our 1 and 2 positions have been manned all year long by 4 PGs, three of them quite tiny. And you can't get away playing that against Kobe. That forces our SF on him, but leaves Kidd to guard Artest, and Ron relishes pushing smaller players around. That's the thing about the Lakers, they have great size everywhere, not just the frontcourt. So these problems throw our usualy backcourt rotations into a disarray. And leaves very few minutes for quicker PGs who can hurt Fisher, like Roddy or Barea.

Yep Dallas can't exploit the one position LA is weak at defensively. Kidd is basically a 3 point shooter now.

This is a big step up for the Mavs, lastr year they got whipped by a SA team that is not as good as this Lakers squad. It wont be easy if Dallas brings it but barring injuries we win in 6 ...we are the better team much like the mavs were better than the Blazers.
