Ya'll can win 2 more....good luck my friends....represent the great state of Texas.

On another note it's time for the Spurs nation to do the right thing and support the Mavs as they battle the Lakers. Go out and get your #41 and #31 jerseys and rock them out on the river walk. We all know ya'll need the Mavs to beat the Lakers for the Spurs to have any shot to get the finals....

Thanks!!!

Hell yes, we are pulling for you guys to beat the hated Lakers.

That is our common denominator here in Texas, all three teams' fans hate the Lakers.

I supported the mavs last night and cheered for them. However, asking me to get a #31 jersey is going a bit far, Can't do that! On the other hand, go Dirk go.

Me too. Bandwagon fan for sure. I'm not sure how a ten year old in New Mexico in the 80s would know of any teams other than the Sixers, the Lakers and the Celtics. I certainly didn't.

That's pretty much it. I liked the Sixers and the Lakers. I didn't like the Celtics because my dad was a Celtics fan and it was more fun for me to cheer for the other team. I was aware of the Spurs and I had the George Gervin "Iceman" poster, but I didn't get to see them play much unless they were playing the Lakers, but I did like them. I never saw the Mavericks on TV.

I didn't become a Spurs fan until they got David Robinson and even then I liked the Sonics about the same. When the Spurs got Timmy, I became a full on Spurs fan. I don't cheer for any other team.

Hate the Mavs....

Hate the lakers more...

Funny, how -once you start watching the lakers play against ANYONE...and your heart naturally begins to pull for the other team...no matter who it is...

Hell, I hate the lakers so much....that when Kobe was on the U.S. olympic team...I started watching...hoping for a U.S. victory...but the more I watched...my heart started pulling for the other teams...

So, Go- fuckin' Mavs!

TampaDude

There is no team I detest more than the Lakers. If we don't make the WCF, I could even live with the Mavs getting their first title this year, because it means the Lakers got bounced.

With 2 minutes left in game 4 of the Lakers / Hornets series, I started keeping track of the number of times Reggie Miller mentioned Kobe. I counted 26 times. In 2 minutes of game time.

Go Mavs.

Mavs-Lakers is for me a bit like England-Germany in soccer. I wish they would blow each other to pieces, and both lose, but that's not really possible. So I have to pick the lesser of 2 evils (or as we say in French, pick between plague and cholera), and clearly the Mavs are the lesser evil. And I wouldn't mind seeing Dirk going back to the WCF.

So there it is: Go Mavs Go! :)

(also... just check my sig)

hmmm.... defeating us twice the past decade, with one of those years being a great chance at a repeat, doesn't constitute for a pebble... and one of our wins came with Dirk injured.... Your statement is 4th grade level at best.

I can't bring myself to say it out loud, but Go Mavs.

I definitely hate the Mavs more than the Lakers.

The way I see it, if the Lakers win the title, oh well, they already have 69 others so it's not a big deal. If the Mavs win it all, we no longer have scoreboard on them and we will never hear the end of it.

I used to HATE Ray Allen more than any man in the league and because of that, I wished failure upon the Celts. But once they won their title, I no longer care if they win 1 or 69 others. Because once you win one ring, you're part of the fraternity. My goal is to keep the assholes of the league out of that fraternity.

Go Lakers and Go Celts. F the Mavs and F the Heat.

Oh, and if nothing else, just picture Mark Cuban doing some feminine, cocky dance at center court after the Mavs won the title. That alone is enough to wish failure upon them.

Don't kid yourself...ABLA (anybody but the Lakers) has been a mantra around here every year I've watched. It has nothing to do with whether or not the Spurs are winning. It has everything to do with Bryant being someone so easy to hate that even his coach hates him.

The Lakers' backing into two titles in a row is nice and all, but the Spurs have at least two rounds before they even need to think about the Lakers or the Mavs. Forgive me for not being as obsessed with your team as you are with mine.

Why the hell would that be shocking? The Mavs have been irrelevant until this 2000s decade. Before that they were just.... there.

LA has been doing battle with SA since we joined the NBA....

Some people need to at least pretend they have some experience with common NBA knowledge.

Anyways, any Spurs fans who think anyone is rooting for us... must be ignorant.

You really think LA/DAL wanna face us over the Grizzlies if they happen to win and advance beyond the conference semi's?

Fuck no. They wanna play a team that gives them the greatest chance at winning the series.

Lakers/Mavericks can go 4 games and injure every player for all I care. I would rather face LA in the WCF if I had a choice.

Simply because of Jason Terry always writing checks his ass never cashes, I will be rooting for the Lakers. Sure, Kobe might not be the greatest person off the court, but he at least 5 rings to back up whatever he says on court. I like Dirk, and he deserves a ring before his career ends, but not when it means that Jason Terry would get one too!

In all honesty, this series is the basketball equivalent of me having to vote for either Bush or Kerry.

this is an interesting two-part conversation.

First of all, I can't imagine being a fan of another team when I was a kid, and then becoming a Spurs fan all of a sudden because a certain player was acquired. Does that mean your fanhood ends when that player is traded or retires? I'm not sure how that works. It's a serious question, I'm not calling anyone out for ridin the bandwagon or anything, but all I have ever been is a Spurs fan. I really did hate both the Lakers and Celtics as a kid, and I always wanted J.Moore to get the recognition I thought he deserved. As an adult, I look back and respect those 80's Lakers and Celtics but when I was a kid I was too stubborn and I pouted about us losing.

On which rival to hate more........with all do respect to my fellow Texans, it would have to be the Mavs. TBH, since Shaq left the LakeShow, Phil Jackson has really been the only trash talker left on the team. Kobe never got angry about being aggressively guarded by Bruce the way other pre-madonna superstars have, and he has always given the Spurs organization recognition from top to bottom, especially, TD and Manu. I can't say the same for Jason Terry, whose mouth seems to be perpetually open and aimed south toward S.A. Additonally, with the exception of a few posters here, their fans seem to hate us like no other fanbase. I've had several encounters at places like the Dallas airport, etc and it seems to be dramatically overblown. I even had a waiter refuse to serve my one time and see he didn't need my tip, when he heard me tell another patron I was a diehard Spurs fan from S.A. Maybe I'm wrong.

Anyways, I hope the Dallas/L.A. series is exciting and goes 7, that's it.
