At the end of every playoff season since, since the 2008 playoffs, the offseason comments about the Spurs are always the same - "the Spurs must get younger and more athletic." It was restated again by Mark Jackson, of the ABC crew, moments after this defeat.

Pop, during his post-game remarks, cited the Grizzlies strengths, their size, their athleticism, and such, while giving full credit to the Grizzlies in a show of good sportsmanship. He commented on how tough it was for the Spurs to match up against them - which begs the question I've pondered all season long, "how could he have ever thought his team could compete with an undersized, and aged frontline?" It's painfully obvious where and what this team is lacking.

All that said, I just wonder when it's going to happen? When will both Pop and RC truly get serious about importing better size, better skilled athletcism on this team? When will they finally incorporate these types of players into the rotation, while moving away from the passive, mentally-weak, one-dimensional, low-skilled players that he seems to favor so much? We keep having the conversation after every season.

In order to conquer the West, ,they need to matchup against the top-tier teams. The chief competition is the NBA is the Fakers, Thunder, Mavs and now Grizzlies - not Real Madrid.
