View Full Version : Get Ryan Richards ASAP

It's already clear that this team needs to get bigger as evidenced from this clusterfuck of a series. I have more confidence in Ryan's abilities than any other big in that they can draft in the weak draft that's coming up. Even though it is apparent that Timmy is no longer the best player on the team, I do wish that he can stay for a couple of more years to continue to serve as a mentor to Splitter, Blair and hopefully Richards.
With his wide array of skills including post-scoring, 3-pt range, and defensive potential, I believe he will be at least a solid contributor when given the proper amount of minutes. If TP can be brought in at 19, why can't Richards at 20? With the lockout likely to happen, this would be the perfect opportunity for Richards to play for the Toros to finally show us how good he really is, albeit at D-League level.
Bottom line, as of right now, we need three 7-footers on the team. Splitter, an over-the-hill Duncan and an undersized Blair still won't be enough for the next playoffs against the likes of the Lakers, Grizzlies, Thunder, Bulls and maybe even the Celtics. Having Richards in the rotation would accomplish that need, until when Duncan retires, another 7-footer must be acquired. This is no time for patience for prospects and draft-and-stash.

It's on like :corn:
Got to send Timmy out the way he sent David Robinson out.....the focus has to be back on defense.

You did ask in the five-step rebuilding plan "What would you do?"
Were you actually serious with that?

Can this guy not contribute more than Dice on both ends? I like Dice but he's way past his prime. We need to get younger on the frontline.

The only way he ends up being really good is if we trade him for Dexter Pittman

The same was said of Tony and Manu you don't know and like someone said throw it on the wall and see if it sticks. If it don't work then it is not like we loose anything..........well other then the loss of HOPE...lol

We'll see if there is a D-League season without the NBA. Very preliminary indications are there will be, but that far from a lock. If so, Richards could be a Toro if he's drafted by them or traded to them on draft day.

Richards thinks he's Matt Bonner.

Tbh, I have more confidence in Richards than Splitter being more useful offensively to the Spurs for the simple fact that no matter what, Richards can shoot a jumper, and hit free throws.

chump why is he in the draft if the spurs drafted him? isnt the toros the spurs teamHe is not under contract with the Spurs. If he were, he would be locked out just like all other NBA players. As an unsigned draft pick, he would conceivably be able to sign a contract with the D-League and enter their draft.

Richards may not be close to ready . . . but neither is Bonner. I'd rather watch Richards screw up as a rookie then see Bonner on the court ever again.

AMEN! I can't take another post season of watching Bonner throw up bricks or watching Hill look like a deer in the headlights or watching our 6"6 center sit on the bench cause gee he is to short!

at this point us spurs fans should be glad we have an exciting draft prospect (ryan richards) whos 6-11 and has a pure shot. not bad to start with i think if the spurs work with him hell be good in 2 years, but knowing pop hell ride the bench and learn enough to get traded or walk away for nothing to the rockets and become a franchise player...
like the others said b4 me, i'd rather give ryan a shot at chocking then see matt bonner cry for minutes only to hide in the corner when the pressure is on

Pretty stupid statement considering Richards hasn't played 1 second of NBA ball.

From what I can tell Richards barely has played in europe at a competative level and yet all of a sudden is an NBA player...Alot of stupid statements about this kid in this thread

Hmm.. last time Bonner cried for minutes... I remember that time you spilled hot oil on him. Turned his skin redder than a lobster and he had to wear a thong for a week. Not that you were complaining.

I believe I understan most things on this board. The above banter about oil and Mattie is not one of them.Right, as if constantly and giddily repeating their homoerotic imagery as a go-to insult makes someone else gay....

Right...if only we could play a bunch of scrubs in the playoffs that are all about 5'10 with no skills. We'd dominate. Richards would tear them up. I've seen it myself on the youtubes. Kid can dunk against little people. Very impressive.
