Orlando Magic President of Basketball Operations Otis Smith said Friday that the organization has offered superstar center Dwight Howard a contract extension, but Howard said he hasn't seen it.
"The extension is on the table," Smith said.
That extension is believed to be for two seasons.
Howard can become a free agent following the 2011-12 season.
Smith, coach Stan Van Gundy and Magic players were available to speak to the media Friday, about 15 hours after they were eliminated in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs by the Atlanta Hawks.
When asked about the contract extension Smith referred to, Howard responded, "I haven't seen a contract."
When a reporter followed up, Howard said, "I haven't seen it."

I'd be surprised if D12 signs with the Magic tbh.

Magic FO has done nothing successfully spectacular to prove to Dwight that they are willing to surround him with credible and nonwashed up talent.

Bucher on Daily Dime:

Azzy (Montreal, Quebec, Canada): Hey Ric, I heard that Dwight Howard confronted you about those rumors that he's maybe heading to LA, is it true?

Ric Bucher: "Confront" is a little strong, but yes, he asked me as soon as I walked into the locker room where he was going. Half playful, half-why-are-you-stirring-this-up-and-making-me-deal-with-it. And I completely understand his frustration. Hard to have a completely frank, honest conversation in the middle of a locker room with teammates and other reporters looking on with keen interest.
All I can tell you is this: I wouldn't have broached the subject if I hadn't been told under no uncertain terms, by someone who should know, that Dwight will opt out of his last year in Orlando and by GMs that they already know, based on their conversations, that Magic president Otis Smith knows he's going to have to do something.
