I'm a native North Carolinian now living in Florida. Why am I a Spurs fan, you ask? Been a Wake Forest fan since birth, and I began watching the Spurs because of Duncan, and then fell in love with Pop's style of play and the mentality of the players. Just found this message board, looking forward to posting here for a little bit.

My sports background:

2 year All-County Basketball
3 year All-Conference golf
2 year All-County football
1 Year all-region football

^All in high school, I then blew an ankle and now I play golf for my college here in Florida. I love movies and music, my favorite band of all time is the Doors and my favorite movie should be evidenced by my sceenname. Hello all.

Oh and I know how you feel. I have a very very bad right ankle. My muscle tissue and tendon is no longer attached to my bone. I have sprained my right ankle now 8 times and I am only 23. The doctor told me that I need surgery to put screws on my ankle and that with one more sprain it can break. I still play but I play with a ankle brace with metal sides. Sometimes I walk and it will go off. I will be okay.

Honestly, as somebody who tried to play through two basically disintegrated ligaments in my ankle, I don't know how he is doing it. It's hard enough to do it on an ankle that is mildly sprained. If you don't know what he's most likely going through at the moment, think of old G-I Joe dolls. Remember how their ankles were? You can move the foot up and down, but not side to side or twisting it. It's basically the same way with a bad sprain or something like that just because of the swelling and braces, tape, etc. I don't know how he's managing to do so well.

I'll tell you the combination that's helped me the most ankle-wise (basically the only thing that makes it tolerable for me to play) is have one foam brace and put a lace-up velcro brace with metal spring inserts over that.

This is basically what I have:

with this over it:

I do wear that sleeve but not that brace. I have tried that lace brace and I didn't like it. I wear that sleeve with a brace with laces and 4 straps around with 2 metals on the sides. It really helps me out.
