It's really too bad the Spurs don't have Scola. I think he might have been able to neutralize Z-Bo to some extent. :depressed

Am I the only one who saw what an absolute beast ZBO was. Especially the last 5 min of the last game. He was not to be denied in this series. He schooled everyone we had.......Maybe Scola would have matched him offensively. But on the other end he would have gotten killed.:ihit

What the hell is your obsession with Scola? Do you think Oden would have helped against Dallas?

Luis Scola > Tim Duncan... sad to say. But this has now become true....

Man, I've been watching their match-ups closely since Z-Bo came to Memphis.
Scola matches Z-Bo really well. Neither of them is a good defender, but Scola often stunned Z-Bo with his fantastic footwork.
Randolph was usually the winner on the board dominating in the last two meetings and he got his points, but he couldn't stop Scola's offensive repertoire, either.
not many players can stop scola he's a stud, that's what many don't realize.
he's cut from the same tree that Manu Ginobili, talented, clutch, inteligent, reckless, teamplayer, etc.
but on defense he's unathletic game can't guard Gasols, Randolphs, etc.
Scola would be just as helpless against ZBo as the other Spurs. The difference would have been at the other end, I have no doubt Scola could score efficiently against ZBo.
tlong, interesting to note that Zbo has lead his team further in the playoffs than Portland have gone since what, 2000? lol blazers

Scola would have been the same defensively as what booner was, but he has been able to score on Randolph consistently all season.
He would have been able to draw a couple of fouls on him,and somhow neutralize his offense.

Randolph would have destroyed Scola.
Nope, Randolph plays using a lot of fakes and foot movements, Scola has problems with fast players not with Randolph kind of play.

With Scola the Spurs would have avoided the 6-7 pointless possessions, that allowed the Grizzlies to win most of the games. I don't think he could have helped much previously, but in this season, the Spurs would have definitely advanced further with Scola. He's exactly the type of player that the Spurs need now that Duncan only has average offensive game. And Pop would made Scola play some defense.

Duncan isn't an elite defender anymore either... he gets most of his blocks because the players take the ball to him in the interior, he isn't mobile enough to converge on opposite players as in the past. He also doesn't hustle like players that are much younger do, and he's not as effecting banging in the post since he lost all the extra weight.
Time to hang up the flat tires....the wheels are about to fall off.......
At least Scola would have helped us compete, and not just embarass himself.
Duncan is my favorite player, but there comes a time when you need to make way for new players.

Alternate reality thread within an alternate reality thread. It's like the movie Inception. And I'm just as confused.
