After watching Disney translate one of its biggest franchises to film with last year's Prince of Persia: Sands of time, Ubisoft has decided to get into the movie making business itself. The Paris-based video game publisher has created a new film division, Ubisoft Motion Pictures.
Variety reports that Jean-Julien Baronnet, former CEO of EuropaCorp (Taken, From Paris With Love) will lead the film division as it works to adapt Ubisoft's game franchises for television and film.
The publication also notes that producer Didier Lupfer (Gainsbourg) is in charge of production and development, while Jean de Rivieres, former head of distribution at Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures France, will lead marketing and international sales.
