Boozer really fighting for those rebounds :rolleyes. Impressed with the overall patience/ball movement with Atlanta's offense early.

Bulls having to work as hard for their offense as I thought the Hawks would have to to start. Props to Teague after being glued to the bench in the 1st series for being ready to come on in a big game on the road. Expecting Chicago to settle down.

Horford giving Boozer all sorts of trouble. That was a nice block by Smith at the rim.

Truer words have never been spoken, Horford's going to own the glass all series. Boozer gives it one shot and if he doesn't get the rebound he bows out. Wilkins going to work after seeing no time in the last series like Teague.

I didn't expect Teague to have this team under control.

NewJerSpur
05-02-2011, 07:35 PM
If Josh Smith adopted Noah's mentality and tried to focus less on offense and more on defense/rebounding on a consistent level the Hawks would be that much more dangerous but I get the feeling he's always going to want to be "the guy" on a team full of guys who can already fill that role and fill it up.

NewJerSpur
05-02-2011, 07:37 PM
I didn't expect Teague to have this team under control.

Me neither, especially riding the pine to start the playoffs. Tbh, I haven't seen him play much since coming to the league but his game looks disciplined (at least to start) which the Hawks need because they're always 1 bad shot away from 5-6-7-8 more bad shot in a row.

LkrFan
05-02-2011, 07:37 PM
Horford and Noah were UF teammates - meaning Noah won't go off. Wouldn't surprise me if Horford has a monster series against Noah and Carlos "turf toe" Boozer.

Jodelo
05-02-2011, 07:39 PM
Rose once again with horrible shooting, if he makes one everybody will say how good he is... 8 for 22: "He is so good!" 11 for 30: "MVP is here" 7 for 25: "Unstoppable"

That was the case the whole season!

Bad shot by Crawford.....and so it begins, nice block by Gibson. Hawks don't want this to turn into a close game. Going to have to go back to milking the clock and moving the ball in the halfcourt imo because their transition offense (outside of the alleyoops to Josh Smith) can be a bit suspect.

Atlanta has way more talent than Chicago and that got them through the Orlando series when both teams were taking low percentage jumpers, but against the Bulls they're going to have to execute for close to 48 minutes because although the Bulls offense might not be exciting (minus Rose) they outwork you and play efficient basketball that keeps them in the game and put pressure on you to do the same. We'll see if the Hawks are really turning the corner.

Atlanta must have matured, actually closing out playoff games now.

Their shot selection is still spotty imo, but they have 2 of the better guys at making those shots on their team in Crawford/Johnson so it hasn't hurt them as much in this game or to this point in the playoffs......yet, lol. To your point though, when you close a team out it does give you a certain level of confidence (i.e. Memphis) and their rebounding and defense looks solid so far.

I'm not reacting based on one game, I said it before the playoffs, the Bulls rely too much on 1 guy for their offense..if you focus your D to make it tough to Rose, with multiple, active defenders, Chicago doesn't have any options to exploit the over-help, or it forces Rose to make tough finishes..

Boozer is a good regular season player, but he obviously isn't reliable enough in a playoff setting..he's more of a #3 option..

Bulls desperately need another perimeter scorer..

i actually think the bulls' strength is that they are pretty balanced. they got solid wing players in deng, brewer, and korver. they have low post players in boozer and gibson plus an all star pg in rose. their main weakness is treating rose like he should take over every game when in reality he can't. they need to create a nice balance and they should be fine. if they continue to rely on rose, they will lose.

I completely agree that the Bulls have a good balance of talent, but none of those guys can create their own offense though..Deng and Boozer can do it occasionally, but neither is a guy that you can give it to on a consistent basis..putting a big defender on Boozer will negate his ability to create, and putting a guy with the same size as Deng will negate his ability, too IMO..

I don't think the Bulls need an All-Star, because Rose is too ball-dominant for it to work, but I think they need a perimeter guy that can come off the bench and create some offense..a guy like Jamal Crawford, JR Smith, Marcus Thornton, etc..

Gracias, Hermano.

Thing is we're just as athletic as the Bulls (Probably even more), our issue is that we don't move the ball well, and we take ill-advised shots. The Bulls don't have great shooters and they rely way too much on Rose. It really just depends which team can make the other pay for their flaws.

I would still pick the Bulls to win the series..

The Bulls defensive system is built to shut down an iso-oriented team like Atlanta, forcing them to take jump shots..however, in tonight's game, it didn't seem like Atlanta missed any jump shots..you could argue that Chicago's D got the shots they wanted to see, Atlanta just made them..

I wouldn't count on Johnson to shoot like that again..

Atlanta obviously put themselves in a great position, though, they already stole homecourt..

Exactly, they played good defense all night. But we won't be playing iso ball every game (I hope). I expect us to push the ball more and play more pick and roll in the upcoming games. This obviously doesn't mean we'll beat them, but we should be able to give them a run for their dinero.
