As I stated before the series started, the Mavericks are the favorites to win this series. The Lakers live off of Gasol and Bynum's easy buckets, but that doesn't make them more talented, and they're not getting those easy buckets vs Dallas. We saw Ron Artest shoot 1-for-8 from the floor, but that's to be expected from a mediocre player like Artest. Bynum shot 3-for-8. Again, that's to be expected from another mediocre player like Bynum. This game wasn't an upset or a surprise, the Mavericks just went out there against a team they were supposed to beat and they beat them.
What happens when the Lakers shots don't go in? Then what? Last night you saw. Now that we're in the second round, it's time to actually earn your wins and not expect the refs to bail you out as they've done so many times for the Lakers since Gasol arrived in 2008. I think the problem with the underdog Lakers is that they expect Kobe to do everything for them. Kobe scored 36 points, but where's the help? This is a team on the decline. The Mavericks are already getting ready for OKC in the Western Conference Finals.
