It's a pretty picture, but would bug me if I played on it, I think.

When the Spurs win the championship they should leave it. Of course, knowing Pop he'll say next year "We're not the champs. That was last years team."

nice but maybe too big.

Playing on it wouldn't be distracting, players aren't looking at the floor much. Not like it would distract from a shot or anything like that.

looks awesome.

Sure it looks awesome... but are we in a college team? Something that big at mid court is a huge distraction, maybe they put it down just for the media day.

Who knows... it might be cool for the fans in the stands, or it just might get very nauseating.

A little over the top, maybe?

Didn't they just have a smaller picture of the trophy witht the finals logo in the bottom right/top left corner of the court? That looked OK to me.

Damn that's nice, but I agree w/ Kori, that is distracting...

The bottom of the trophy looks confusing....

I assume this means that this montrosity will be on the Palace floor as well...

This is nothing compared to the Rockets court when they had the pajama uniforms

and that big ass rocket shooting across the court.

i think it looks sweeeeeeet!

And have you seen some og the NBA hardwood around the league these days?
If the yarn't allready distracted by all he team logos, arena logos and sponser logos thne why would this bother them?

I was never distracted while playing pickup games on a blacktop lined out for 3 other sports while, surrounded by 400 different types of grafitti...... not to mention I think a CROWD OF 18,000 people would be more distrcting than a little paint on the floor.
But they seem to play fine thru all that.

Im still skeptical, although I wouldn't mind if the winner got to keep it for the next season.

Its not like its some hot pink or anything, it blends in with the court. I like it.

Jimcs50
06-08-2005, 05:24 PM
I do not think that the players even look at what is on the floor. They play on 30 different floors, all season with 30 different colors and emblems...they could care less what is painted on the floor.

Manu will slide over that painted emblem and get floor burns on that just the same as any other paintjob.

T Park

Does it also say

THE FINALS

or
2005 NBA Finals there???

If thats the only thing differenciating the regular court and that court, then thats kinda boring.

dknights411
06-08-2005, 05:33 PM
Realisticly, it's just a floor. That being said...

HOLY CRAP!!!

Could you imagine trying to fit that on Miami's floor? Or Philly's? :wtf

The NBA marketing department is REALLY going all out here. Watch next year, they WILL be playing on a gold plated floor (or maybe just diamond crusted, whichever is cheaper)

I agree with Jim, no player is going to be distracted by some stupid design on the floor. I think it's horrendously ugly, though.

I think the trophy hardwood is nice..

I doubt it will distract anyone.

Kori Ellis
06-08-2005, 07:48 PM
It's not distracting to players, but it's a big distracting eyesore looking at the court. I guess during game action it won't look as bad as it did today.

The logo looks great!
However, it might have been more appropriate to have saved it for the ring ceremony next season. You know the whole, work now, play ( or in this case, decorate) later idea.

I like it...but, lookout for any halfcourt violations..."which f***ing line is it!!"

I don't think it was their decision really, as Detroit is going to have the similar design on their court.

I think they should have just had something like this at Midcourt:

PISTONS SUCK!!!!!!

Trust me, it looks wild at first, but it will grow on you. A&M just did this last year for their bball court and at first I thought it looked crazy but it turned out pretty slick.

Theyd have to get permission form Vince McMahon, and I dont see that happening. :lol

lol @ "pistons suck" on the hardwood

It's ok, at least they didn't color in the trophy, i guess that wouldn't look good with the spurs logo.

Way...too...damn...big.

I've dealt with that kind of over-the-top marking on the ice. It's probably not as annoying on the court, but it does get hard to even know what line you're near.

That, IMO, is the pleasant thought of this week.

It's all good ... the Finals start in a few hours . . . in San Antonio.
