Is Rose gonna play?

Pretty sure, X-Rays came back negative and he said during his presser yesterday that the ankle was feeling fine and he was able to get in some work at practice. Even if he woke up feeling crappy, with everything that's at stake I can't see him missing this one.

Where is Hitman out this mofo btw?

Wonder if Bogans is given more minutes to try and contain Johnson even if it's at the expense of Korver's shooting?

NewJerSpur
05-04-2011, 07:22 PM
Josh Smith has to stay away from those shots, even if he is open on the break....his main job is to get to the rim at all costs in those instances.

Jelloisjigglin
05-04-2011, 07:22 PM

I think you have to give Korver minutes. But if Korver doesn't produce, and gets killed by Crawford, then you have to sit him. Crawford was getting wherever he wanted for the most part when Korver was on him.

Spur-Addict
05-04-2011, 07:23 PM
You need people to stretch the court for Rose.

Good point, which kills Chicago when he can't offset his suspect defense with his deadly jumper coming off of screens.

NewJerSpur
05-04-2011, 07:25 PM
Didn't see a foul there, but if you're Chicago it's good to see Rose foregoing the weak jumpers early.

With the deep positioning Noah gets and the iso opportunities other teams give the guy defending him, if he could develop some sort of offensive game on the block it would take a ton of pressure off of Deng and Rose.

NewJerSpur
05-04-2011, 07:31 PM
Hawks moving the ball better than I've seen thus far in the playoffs.

NewJerSpur
05-04-2011, 07:33 PM
Bad decision by Rose leaving his feet with nowhere to go and nice job of spacing on defense by Atlanta limiting his outlet options.

I could see him putting a hook in his game. He has steadily improved each year. He put the work in to put muscle on etc

Can definitely see the bulk he's add on. Good thing is too, at least he's always going for every rebound even his which is like insurance when he throws up something that has no chance of going in :lol.

NewJerSpur
05-04-2011, 07:36 PM
Shots like that by Crawford will either keep the Bulls in the game (when missing) or pile on and bury Chicago (when making).

Agreed. At least he's more patient than Blair is right now.

Also like the high-high/mid-low action the Hawks have added to their offense this game where they have Josh setup around/behind the arc, a wing below the FT line and another big around the rim.

NewJerSpur
05-04-2011, 07:41 PM
Still no Korver......interesting. And they've got Rose defending Crawford which he wasn't doing in game 1, even before the ankle was sprained.

NewJerSpur
05-04-2011, 07:43 PM
Better shot by Crawford coming off of a screen in rhythm.

NewJerSpur
05-04-2011, 07:44 PM
Looks like Thibs is also having his guards pressure the ball early trying to force the Hawks to get into their sets earlier than they normally like to.

NewJerSpur
05-04-2011, 08:02 PM

Bulls in better shape than Game 1 and they are dictating the tempo on both ends. Have to see if Atlanta finds creative ways to get Crawford and Johnson going or if they just take it upon themselves to do so in the 2nd half.

Red Hawk #21
05-04-2011, 08:14 PM
Bulls played lockup defense in that 1st half. We need to get some stops and get out in transition in the 2nd half.

NewJerSpur
05-04-2011, 08:41 PM
This is where milking the clock hurts the Hawks, when they're down double digits and the offense is stagnated, but whe they're up big like they were in the last game they can afford to get off late shots and hopefully get long rebounds if they miss and force the opposition to do more on the offensive end to make up for the deficit, even if it means rushing the offense.

Hitman brought it up during the Pacers series, but dude gets lazy on offense for some reason. I know you can't go 100 mph everytime down on offense, but if no one can stay in front of you when you're going 60 why not exploit that?

Besides a healthy Hinrich, what do you think your team needs most?

A true upgrade at center that moves Horford to PF full-time? Can Josh be good enough at SF to move him there if they get that?

Isn't Dwight from ATL? Any rumors about dwight wanting to go home?

I haven't heard anything about Dwight wanting to come home. I think we have a good team, but we need a strict coach. Some of these guys play like they're at a local park at times. We're solid at the PG spot though with Kirk and Jeff Teague, and JJ/Crawford can also play at the 1. I expect Teague to have a breakout season next year. We're good at every spot but we need to put everything together.

Good defense by Chicago, doubling on the dribble then backing off to cutoff the passing lane when the dribbler picks the ball up.

Redhawk one more question ...how come Teague got no "run" ... especially when Bibby was still there? He could of spelled him some more ...I like teague have watched him since his ACC days ...probably not a long-term starter, but as a back-up he is pretty good.

What did I miss?

-Rose going back and forth between doing what he's best at (driving) and shooting contested shots from out of his range

-Atlanta's offense is struggling but the defense is keeping them in the game

I haven't heard anything about Dwight wanting to come home. I think we have a good team, but we need a strict coach. Some of these guys play like they're at a local park at times. We're solid at the PG spot though with Kirk and Jeff Teague, and JJ/Crawford can also play at the 1. I expect Teague to have a breakout season next year. We're good at every spot but we need to put everything together.

OK thanks, fair points. I havent seen them much the past two seasons love their talent and athleticism. I would love to see Horford at PF ...

WOw teague, like I said, I liked that guy in college.

Celtics aren't shit. People need to get over them. That wasn't that great a team to begin with. Sure, they got fucked last year by Stern, but they
had chances to take the series and tanked.

The Celtics may not be great, but it these two games are how the Bulls and Hawks are going to play for the rest of the playoffs, then even Boston would crush them both if given the opportunity.

Thanks guys, it's just frustrating to watch guys hold the ball for 10 seconds, take 6 Jabsteps and then shoot a fadeaway or highly contested jumper. That's bailing out the defense. Why not pass the ball and get better shots? Why not attack and try to get to the FT line? Sometimes I don't understand this team. We play better at home, but we're gunna need ball movement if we want to win.

Both teams are stuck at this point. The Hawks will continue to be a jump-shooting team without enough ball movement, and Chicago will continue to look like shit on offense if Rose doesn't step up.

I feel ya. I may get in some back and forth ...but I dont troll, and I stand by my views even though I could be wrong it's all subjective anyways.

And yes, of course the next game and the Heat game will get the press but I just love ball and talking ball ...that is why I come here. The forum used to be better when i first joined. And yes I know some of it is do to my Lakers brethren "trolling" and the counter trolls bashing Kobe, Lakers etc. But there used to be so much better NBA talk on here ...ahh well. Still better than being on Lakers site all the time ...

We all get caught up in the fandom aspect of the game and some of the other things that come with it (which prompts reactionary comments from everyone at some point), but it all boils down to bball at the end of the day even with everything else involved. That's still there and it'll keep the site growing into what it's become I think.
