Phil Jackson needs to find a spark, because his team has lacked one for two games now.

So you can throw the conventional wisdom that Matt Barnes (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NBA&id=892) will step in and start for the suspended (http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/05/05/it%e2%80%99s-official-lakers-ron-artest-suspended-for-game-3/) Ron Artest (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NBA&id=620) out the window — Shannon Brown (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NBA&id=1282) may be getting the start, Kevin Ding reports at the Orange County Register (http://lakers.ocregister.com/2011/05/06/shannon-brown-projected-to-start-in-artests-place/54237/). Brown would be the two guard, Kobe Bryant (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NBA&id=430) would slide to the three spot.

Frankly, both Barnes and Brown have been inconsistent with shots and been less than impressive on defense. Both are going to get their chance, one of them has to step up. That or Luke Walton (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NBA&id=958)… yea, better count on
Brown or Barnes if you’re a Lakers fan.

Some Lakers fans are calling for the Lakers to go with more of a tall lineup that has Andrew Bynum (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NBA&id=1132), Pau Gasol (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NBA&id=766) and Lamar Odom (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NBA&id=608) playing at once. Don’t expect it. Phil Jackson barely tried this during the season (only a handful of minutes all season), if he breaks it out now it’s more a sign of desperation than thoughtful strategy.

Yes. No sense in starting Odom and changing two rotation places.

just pound it inside and get the mavs in foul trouble.

Problem with that is Gasol keeps moving closer to the arc than the paint, and Bynum starting his post up at the free throw ain't gonna cut it. Bynum doesn't want to fuck with Chandler. And you know what else? Chandler knows it.

But deep in the paint no one of the Mavs can stop Bynum. Haywood Ds up, and he
had some blocks, but he's gonna get in foul trouble. Honestly, the strategy of
getting them in foul trouble has not worked so far

That's exactly what's they've done. Especially Chandler:::he has dispirited Bynum. (Gasol was already toast before this series tipped).

What, because Chandler hasn't barked & sashayed around like say Martin in CO., or, that white dude from New Orleans you can't tell Chandler's imprint on this series? He, Chandler is a living example of substance over symbolism.

Artest's defense will be sorely missed by the Lakers. Brown will not compensate.

Lakers scrambling when there is no need. Grow a pair, Phil.

I just think Bynum thinks he can handle anyone if he gets it down low.
Whether or not they're able to get it to him is another question.

Gasol should change his name to Gagassed or Gasshole, cuz he's been tanking, last game especially. He looks like he can barely stand up, let
alone fuck with Chandler and Hay in the paint.

Uh uh. Not on my watch. Welshers can't praise "imprint" and "substance over style" when someone has no ring. You can't have it both ways. Either you leave an imprint and own some hardware or you're nothing.

You choose.

But, he can't get low now that Chandler has sent him away. So he starts out at the ft line extended. WTF, there's no sense to it. It's a 24 second clock. There is no time for him to scoot lower when Chandler has said "no." And you know what else? Chandler means "no."

I'd be absolutely amazed to see it get turned around.

I've never seen the Mavs this cold & efficient. This is how basketball is meant to be delivered at this level/professional. They're giving nothing away. And you shouldn't. Denver for example gives it all away within 10 minutes of the tip. OKC is starting to give things away as well. It's a lethal habit to get into, and a very difficult one to break.

I especially like Kidd & Chandler here. Kidd knows time is running out, and this is last chance. And he is seizing the moment. Similiarly Chandler has heard the hum of rumor & innuendo concerning him over the past 3 seasons. Did he vow at the top of his lung to seek vengenace? No. He's just dispensing it indiscriminately amongst the foe.

ok, but name one other team that took the 10 count and got back up to godzilla stomp.

There were moments when I thought Dallas was going to give it away, like when JJ shot that 26' 3 with 18 seconds left on the clock. Teams get up a dozen and start the 3 fest as if they are swinging for the fences. Sometimes it works and they bury the opponent, sometimes it allows the opponent to close the gap. The Lakers closed the gap for a bit during that 3 fest.

Don't think it's a bad move. If you start Barnes, you have to play Luke Walton at some point. And the Mavs don't start potent wing scorers. Brown will end up on Stevenson or Kidd, which should be fine defensively for the most part. Might even be good to put Brown on Kidd to have that athleticism on him. Kobe will have to be careful not to take cheap fouls on drives or offensive rebounding attempts by Marion.

The tough thing with Shannon in the starting line-up will be trying to control him from shooting the basketball every time he touches it. Off the bench, he'll put up 5 straight shots. Obviously, Kobe won't let that happen. But you still have to make sure Shannon doesn't go crazy like a kid at Christmas.

& even up 3-1 I felt like it wasn't going to work out. It just didn't feel correct. Phoenix wouldn't quit that was the problem.

We even won one of those early 3 when Kobe stepped out of bounds late and they didn't catch it. They had the still pic up at Sose's Joint, and it was obvious. Even Crawford was standing in the LOS.
