View Full Version : Time to root for the lakers?

We are all enjoying the epic failure by the lakers no doubt. But there could be even a bigger failure to watch if the Mavs somehow find a way to lose this series.

Can you imagine the repercusions of the Mavs pulling the biggest choke job in sports history yet again??? It would be the death of that Maverick franchise.

my question is, do you prefer to continue to see Lakers die a slow death or see the biggest most epic chokejob in history if Mavs find way to lose???

I am leaning towards the latter :flag:

abtl. let the mavs beat LA, but lose to Memphis. If LA wins this series, they'll win the next 4 years.

How on earth would losing to the two-time defending champions be an epic choke job? If I recall correctly, the Favored Spurs were up 2-0 and riding a 15 game win streak into game 3 back in 2004. I don't need to remind you of the final outcome. The Mavs have always been a better road team than home team so it wouldn't surprise me in the least if LA stormed back to take the next two. The only epic failure is another worthless thread on the front page of Spurstalk.

I hope the Lakers lose this series. Because let's face it, if the Mavs move on, they would be more likely to lose to Memphis/OKC and then either one of Boston/Miami/Chicago in the Finals than LA would.....

But i really dont wanna see Miami win it all and not sure who would be a tougher matchup for them.

Is this your Sesame Street rationale? I post in any thread I feel compelled to post in. This particular thread is severely flawed. Losing to the two-time defending champions in a seven game series even if spotted a 2-0 lead would NOT be considered one of the biggest choke jobs in sports history... Not even close. On the flip side, it wouldn't be the ultimate choke job if LA suffers defeat to Dallas. Therefore, the mere existence of this thread is senseless.

The Mavs could never top their 06 choke, so FTL all the way.

No-brainer, I'd rather see Dallas win this. Dirk is probably the most deserving player in the league of a championship.

Easy.

Mavs SWEEP the lakers...then in the next round...Mavs go up 3-0...

...and then choke and lose series 4-3....

Sounds like some Spurs fans are praying that the Mavs make people forget the collossal and historic choke job the Spurs put out this season. Even if the Mavs lose the next four it's still the second biggest upset this postseason.

I honestly don't think our loss to Memphis was as huge a choke as people are making it out to be. The writing was on the wall. Now I admit, I was expecting to win the series. But I knew that eventually our lack of defense and interior presence outside of Duncan was going to result in a very ugly exit for the Spurs. I just didn't expect it in the first round. I just didn't feel like we had a championship team this year, and when you know your team isn't a championship team, then no exit from the playoffs surprises you, whether it be first round or WCF's.

Love your picture FF. Must be a big Boxer fan:). Watch his documentary that they aired on GOM if you haven't yet.

Also, I don't know what it says about me as a Mavs fan but I'd rather win one championship with Dirk than 5 without him. You guys have a similar situation with Duncan(but you guys get the 4 rings too) so Spurs fans can probably relate but I will never ever be attached to another player in my life as I am to Dirk.

It pains me...PAINS me to say I actually watched the end of the Mavs/Lakers Game 3 but it was enjoyable to see the Lakers implode (although it annoyed me to see Terry playing well) and the Zen Master :sleep become unglued and virtually bitch slap Gasol in front of everyone. It's time for the Lakers and their whatever money can buy organization to chew on some humble pie. I just would have preferred it to have come at the hands of the Hornets instead of the Mavs, but I'll take it.

Now whoever the Mavs play next needs to take them out.

Living in Dallas, these Mavs fans are a massive insufferable beating. I hate the Lakers with the fire of a thousand suns, but I would really like to see a Lakers comeback, just to shut these jackasses up. Then I would pray to sweet baby Jesus that the Griz or Thunder just viciously violate the Lakers.

Can you just pray for the Grizz or Thunder to violate the Mavs? Why give the Lakers the glory of being the first team to come from 3-0 down.

Because I wish for titanic Mavs failure at all cost. And them being the first NBA team to choke away a 3-0 series lead would be a glorious thing to behold.

Your Mavs were a 1 seed and lost to an 8. And your Mavs also had one of the most massive meltdowns in NBA Finals history. Win 4 titles and get back to me. And also ... you're not my father.
