View Full Version : If Kobe's gamewinner in game 1 went in, what would the series be right now?

If the Mavs go on to win this series handily, I think that shot will be overlooked when IMO, things could've have gone a lot differently if it went in.

I think it would be 2-1 LA right now if it went in, instead of hitting the back iron. The Mavs would have been crushed psychologically and I think they would've lost game 2 handily. The Lakers history of letting the foot off the gas would've ensured a game 3 win by Dallas but then LA would win game 4 and take the series eventually

Moreso than that, the series should be 2-1 Lakers anyways.

- blew 16 point lead
- blew 7 point lead with five minutes on the clock and didn't let Bynum touch it once.

You can't give a great team like the Mavs second and third chances. They are brutal.

sons the dude couldn't get it done, plain and simple. that was about as wide open of a look that any player could ask for ... and 90% of other players would have drained it.

lol son Kobe had absolutely nothing to do with the Lakers beating the Hornets ... Bynum and the NBA are to thank for that.

2-1 Dallas. Game 2 is the game that gets stolen by the road team. I don't
know the Elias bureau stats on that, but LA blew game 1, and the Mavs got game 2
fair and square.

Honestly, the second after it didn't fall, I was instantly reminded of the '03 Spurs 'Chip vid and Dave's quote after Horry's shot doesn't fall at the end of gm 5. Possible foreshadowing...?

It was a good look for Kobe, but it shouldn't even have come to that, from the Lakers' point of view. Very unlike the Lakers to give away a lead like that and to play as bad down the stretch as they did in Game 3. So yeah, it easily could have been 2-1 Lakers, but it isn't, and the Mavs just have been the better team when it matters in this series.
