How are the Memphis Grizzlies an 8th seed?

Going into the Grizzlies-Spurs series, I thought the Grizz had a bit of a chance to beat the Spurs. I was amazed that they actually did it though. And I expect the Grizz to beat OKC as well. I've always thought they were good but when I look at their roster, It seems like these guys don't have any weaknesses. They're athletic at every position, they're relentless, they can play defense, and they get great inside scoring from Z-bo and Marc. And on top of this Rudy Gay isn't even playing! What a stacked fucking team, how the fuck are these guys the 8th seed? This isn't even fair. I'm just amazed at how good these guys seem to be, what is the key to beating this team?

They were exactly one game worse than the Spurs in the calendar year 2011 of the regular season, and something like 2-2.5 games worse than LA in the time period (LA had the best only-2011 regular season record in the west).
