View Full Version : How are the Memphis Grizzlies an 8th seed?

Going into the Grizzlies-Spurs series, I thought the Grizz had a bit of a chance to beat the Spurs. I was amazed that they actually did it though. And I expect the Grizz to beat OKC as well. I've always thought they were good but when I look at their roster, It seems like these guys don't have any weaknesses. They're athletic at every position, they're relentless, they can play defense, and they get great inside scoring from Z-bo and Marc. And on top of this Rudy Gay isn't even playing! What a stacked fucking team, how the fuck are these guys the 8th seed? This isn't even fair. I'm just amazed at how good these guys seem to be, what is the key to beating this team?

They had a horrible start to the season and then tanked to get an easy first round matchup. They were exactly one game worse than the Spurs in the calendar year 2011 of the regular season, and something like 2-2.5 games worse than LA in the time period (LA had the best only-2011 regular season record in the west).

Because they are tanking POSs. But, I hope they win.

When teams are clicking, playing in rhythm and everything is running smooth, it's often hard to find weaknesses on the team. It's when the other team also gets going that you see the weak spots.

They turned things around after their "best player" was put on IR for the year.

The Spurs were static at #1. Hollins caught a hanger and isolated 'em, did his homework, plotted their demise on paper & dictated it to his charges.

Sheer genius.

I think Rudy Gay sitting out has a lot to do with it. That team has really come together and they play like they all have each others backs. Kinda remind me of the 2004 Pistons.

They turned things around after (& in spite of) their "best player" was put on IR for the year.

The Fakers were coasting at #2. Carlisle caught a hanger and isolated 'em, did his homework, plotted their demise on paper & fucked those homos til they bled.

Sheer genius.

How hilarious would it be if the Griz took out the Lakers in the 1st round?

They tanked to get the 8th.

Duncan was mad about it, set his jaw, yelped a couple yelps, then just rolled over and let Hollins rub his tired old shit bag.

Just like that.

Tony Allen suddenly becoming Rodman, Zbo playing like Hakeem, Marc like Pau of 09 and even their scrub PG is playing like Isiah. That is no 8 seed. they will expose the mavs jumpshooting btw

Its the Western Conference, thats how. Spurs weren't exactly your typical 7th seed last year and they weren't even trying to tank :downspin:

All hail the Southwest Divison :wakeup

I feel sorry for Memphis if they face the Mavs. These Mavs are hungry.

Grizzlies are an 8th seed cause they had Rudy Gay for half a season. They got a whole lot better defensively by acquiring Battier. Then they tanked a few games.

Culby is taking up 50% of the posts in every single thread. Is he still making sure every asshole is checked after the skunker (2.0)? :lmao

Allen and Battier are going to gobble up Terry/Peja. Did you see what Allen did to Durant in Game 3? Mavs are going to struggle with their 3 pt shot. Randolph & Gasol will control the paint. Dirk will have to be bigger then he was in the LA series.
