This card now officially sucks and should be a fight night

The highly-anticipated third bout between UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and number one contender Gray Maynard will have to wait a little longer, as it was announced today that both fighters have suffered injuries in training camp that will take them out of the UFC 130 main event on May 28th.

Stepping up into the UFC 130 main event slot is the bout between former UFC light heavyweight champ Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Matt "The Hammer" Hamill, and moving to the Pay-Per-View card will be the Thiago Alves vs. Rick Story welterweight showdown.

In Spike TV prelim action, Tim Boetsch's middleweight debut against Kendall Grove will join the bantamweight fight between Miguel Angel Torres and Demetrious Johnson.

Pettis says Maynard bout was offered to him

Former WEC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis said that Monday’s news about injuries suffered by Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard didn’t surprise him all that much.

That’s because the UFC contacted Pettis “three or four days ago” with a special request: did he want to take a bout with Gray Maynard in the main event of UFC 130?

Pettis wanted the fight.

“They were going to have me fight Maynard on that card. I said yes to that deal right away. I guess it turns out that it’s not going to happen. I’m back to fighting Guida,” Pettis told HeavyMMA.com. “It sucks that he got injured, because it kinda puts the whole lightweight division back on standstill. ”

Instead of facing Maynard, Pettis will instead resume training camp for his bout with Clay Guida at the Ultimate Fighter Finale.

“For three or four days I thought I was going to fight on May 28 and now it’s just killing me, so I’m going to take it out on Clay Guida.”

why wouldn't the UFC make the Pettis/Maynard match? Gray has been talking shit about Pettis and WEC lately, it's perfect for a back-up fight.

If PPV deals were not done so far in advance they would make this a free Spike card. Not one fight here has title ramifications..

maynard and frank edgar is the great fighter maybe this rematch fight is the best fight in the whole world...both of them is very dangerous fighter its so awesome.....I've always wait this rematch...I salute both of you guys your true warrior's
