I believe someone mentioned this in another thread right after it happened, but the league would do better if they suspended him playoff games. So suspend him like 10 regular season games and 2 playoff games. The fine is whatever. I'm sure these players hate paying fines, but it's the equivalent of a couple hundred bucks to most folks.
