They should make him play those 5 games, maybe his knee will explode.

Slap on the wrist, at best. 5 games in an 82 game season is nothing to a team or player, especially when you are talking about the first games of the season.

Not suspending him for too long is good. Increases chances of career ending injury; this scum doesn't deserve a place in the NBA.

You faggots pining for a longer suspension make me laugh. How many games should Raja Bell gotten for trying to snap Kobe's neck in two?He got 1 game.

JJ didn't get hurt, didn't miss any games, and will play every game in the WCF series. If anything, 5 games is too much.

I agree with 10 games, but that would be like 1.4 mill fine, seems rather steep, tbh.

:lol 3rd time offender is a 5 game suspension..way to set a precedent..

I guess setting precedents, such as leaving the bench in a crucial playoff game, are worth 1 game suspensions, but trying to kill somebody for the 3rd time is only worth 5:lol..

Should have been 10 games minimum. They gave Bynum a break considering he pulled the same shit on Beasley not that long ago and collapsed Gerald Wallace's lung.

This shit was 2 months ago. What a short memory the NBA has. How can you let this guy get away with shit like this twice in a 2 month span. If that elbow hits someone in the right place it can do serious damage. Seeing this stuff and the way Odom and Barnes acted all tough I'm glad those fucks got swept.

Are you fucking retarded? Try to pay attention, ok? He puts his elbow straight into the stomach of a player half his size while in mid air and it was completely premeditated. Do you deny that? And don't forget the other times he's done the exact same thing.

As far as Kobe and Bell: they're the same size, kobe wasn't airborne, and wrapping your arm around someones head isn't even CLOSE to landing an elbow to the midsection. With that said, Bell should've gotten more games just like Bynum

One of the biggest reasons I have hated the current lakers is because the majority of players on their roster are punks. Kobe,Fisher,Odom,Barnes,Bynum,Artest all have a fake tough guy persona.

way to argue the issue

Already gave my 2 cents prior. Nothing to argue. Was a bush league move and he got fined and suspended accordingly. 20 years ago it would have been a foul and thats it. Now in the pussified flagrant1 and 2 world we live in its games and fines and flopping galore. Fine. But don't act like you haven't seen many many rougher and more ill intent fouls. HoBoy blows everything Lakers and Kobe out of proportion and his little minions chime in. If the exact same thing would have happend with say Dwight doing the same to Kobe we would be hearing nothing but he deserved it etc. "trying to kill somebody" is laughable.

It's not the first time so he deserves 10 at minimum

I don't think Andrew Bynum is actually a violent person, I just think he lets his emotions get the best of him far too often, particularly when his team is getting embarrassed. It's not unnatural to want to physically beat the crap out of an opponent who is killing you, but there is a line in sports that can't be crossed and Bynum has crossed it 3 times now.

This should have been a 10-game suspension. 5 games isn't much when you consider the damage that could have been caused by this kind of cheap shot. 10 games, minimum.

BTW, Mike Tirico's reaction was priceless. "DISGUSTING."

Bell was brought up earlier in this thread.

The reason why Bell didn't get more than a 1-game suspension is because his takedown of Kobe was something all NBA fans (sans Laker douches) wanted. It was a beautiful thing to watch. Stern was strokin' it Cubby-style when it happened.

Man In Black

It's lighter than it should be but one can tell, no matter how many times he says it's not him or reflective of how he is. IT IS. It's part of his DNA and sooner or later....IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. That next time, the league will go 20 games easy.

The peeps, like me, who remember hard fouls should also point out that the NBA was in a different place. Having said that, when Kareem Abdul-Jabbar punched Kent Benson in the Seventies, had he not of broken his hand, Larry O'Brien and the league were going to give him a 20 game suspension. Yes, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

five games and 700K ....... that's a helluva sentence.

It's self-inflicted. He deserved 10 due to recency and severity. Let's just say that the LAL threw themselves at the mercy of the court and got the sentence lightened.

lol what a light sentence for a repeat offender. $700K is a pittance compared to the almost $15 million he'll earn next year. didn't lewis get suspended 10 games for a funky chemical in some supplement he bought over the counter?

Hey all you tough guys posting "pathetic". How tough is it to plant an elbow to the ribs of a guy going up for a layup unprotected? Yeah, that's tough. And it sure helped the team didn't it?

$700K is not that excessive for a guy making $15 million a year. Should've been 10 games. Bynum is a repeat offender, and needs to be hammered hard by the NBA.

5 Games about right.

The suspension should have been playoff games (if the Lakers ever get back to the playoffs), not meaningless preseason games.
