And he was watching one of those True Crime shows. Featured on the show was a man wearing a Kobe Bryant jersey caught on camera robbing a bank at gunpoint. The post-script narration revealed the man was sentenced to 20 years in prison. I applauded this swift act of justice. Cobbler didn't seem too thrilled, shaking his head.
"What's wrong?" I asked. "Don't agree with the sentence?"
"No," he replied.
"I take it you think he should've gotten more time?"
"No. I mean, how do we know the bank didn't rob him first and he was simply taking his money back?"
"That doesn't make any sense, cobb. The guy was caught red handed, on camera."
"Yeah, but still, we don't know anything besides what the camera showed us. How do we know if it's the truth?"
"Um, you're kidding me, right?"
"No. I'm not. People wearing Kobe Bryant jerseys have always treated me with respect, so I have no reason to believe he robbed that bank."
"But the video-"
"I don't care. He was wearing a Kobe Bryant jersey, and that's good enough for me."
Next up was a man wearing a Spurs jersey who shoplifted a candy bar. Cobbler felt the death penalty was a proper punishment.
