Might be nothing or something big:

The announcement has been sent, so let the speculation begin: @danawhite hosting a conference call in 25 minutes. Stay tuned.

UPDATE: Suppose to be a Major Announcement

UPDATE 2: Brock Lesnar has diverticulitis again. Talking with specialists. Carwin vs Dos Santos now at UFC 131

Says he is not retiring

Brock Lesnar: I wouldn't have been 100 percent on June 11. I had to make a decision this week.

Symptoms hit during TUF taping - Brock says symptoms aren't as serious as last time, but he couldn't train for UFC 131 bout.

Brock Lesnar: It's not as serious as last time.. It just didn't allow me to train like I would for a No. 1 contender bout.

Brock Lesnar: It's drained my entire body down. Basically, you have an infection in your stomach.

Brock Lesnar: I've been dealing with symptoms the past 3 months. The only way to treat the symptoms is to get on antibiotics.

WOW!!

This sucks. It sounds like his career may be over. He is saying he will fight on but maybe the damage done to his stomach is such this is going to be an ongoing issue for him. And if he has surgery he may have to retire..

Yeah this news does suck, especially with the lack of depth in the HW division. Luckily UFC will eventually get the Strikeforce HWs but going to be a struggle till then.

My understanding of what happened last time was Brock had minor surgery and then through meds and a changed diet he was able to fully recover. But i guess this never completely goes away and now that he has another flare up he may need the major surgery. But Brock seems adamant this is not as bad and that he will not retire. Bottom line through he is almost 34 and if he has to sit out another year because of this, the safe thing maybe would be to retire..

He may be older but he's still in peak condition and its not like he's been doing this for a long time. I'd rather be a 35 year old Brock than a 29 year old who's been pounded on for 10 years.

Lack of depth is only lasting another year or so, SF has some good fighters that will definately give great match-ups for Carwin, Junior, Mir, etc.

Nelson is a smart dude, he called this shit and it makes a lot of sense. I like Brock, but it wouldn't matter to me if he never fought again so he could stay healthy. He got exposed by Cain, and taking a punch isn't something you can learn to do in 6-12 months. I think he might be done too.

Actually, I take it back. I'd love to see Brock fight Big Foot Silva.

The physical trauma his body is going through is a major issue. Brock was hospitalized for weeks last time because of this problem. Now he may need major surgery, which would end his career from i what i understand because he will not be able to maintain his weight.. Brock said he was begging doctors to wait on surgery as long as possible last time, knowing full well he may never fight again..

Lesnar: ‘This Isn’t the End of My Fighting Career’

http://www.sherdog.com/news/news/Lesnar-This-Isnt-the-End-of-My-Fighting-Career-32313

Brock Lesnar had been noticing symptoms for three months, even while filming the 13th season of “The Ultimate Fighter.” He knew exactly what the problem was and how serious it could be, but hoped nonetheless that it wouldn’t force him to bow out of his scheduled June 11 engagement with rival “TUF” coach Junior dos Santos.

On Wednesday, the former UFC heavyweight champion spent 14 hours at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., undergoing what UFC President Dana White classed a “bumper-to-bumper” battery of tests. The news wasn’t good: Lesnar’s diverticulitis -- the intestinal infection which first disrupted his fighting career in November 2009 -- was flaring up again.

“Diverticulitis is an illness that never goes away,” Lesnar said during a Thursday media conference call. “It’s something that I’ve dealt with since my first occurrence and have been battling with it. It’s something that’s in your colon for the rest of your life.

“What it does is, it drains my entire body down. Basically, you’ve got an infection in your stomach and all my resources went toward fighting this problem instead of rebuilding what I tore down in the gym.”

Lesnar had two decisions to address. One was fairly clear-cut, if not easy to make: pulling out of his fight.

“The first thing that came to mind was, from today until June 11, I can’t be well-enough prepared to step in the Octagon and face Junior dos Santos,” Lesnar explained. “It wouldn’t be fair to myself or my family, or to the people I have to get in the Octagon and perform in front of, because I wouldn’t have been 100-percent on June 11 ... It was a hard decision. I’m choked up about it. There’s nothing I can do.”

“It’s not as serious as last time,” said Lesnar, whose first brush with diverticulitis left him hospitalized and reportedly near-death. “It just didn’t allow me to train the way I needed to train for a No. 1 contender’s bout ... I only have three weeks to turn this thing around. We just didn’t feel like I could do that.”

The second decision is one Lesnar is weighing more heavily.

“I am forced with the decision to either have surgery, or to deal with this for the rest of my life,” said Lesnar, who was uncharacteristically emotive at times during Wednesday’s call. “Obviously, I’m fighting a different fight here, other than having to give up the fight on June 11.”

Doctors originally urged Lesnar to have surgery, which could mend the problem by removing a section of his colon, in 2009. At the time, Lesnar resisted, instead relying on antibiotics and a strict diet to fight the infection. Now, the 33-year-old finds himself faced with the same choice in a different situation.

“Now I’m at another fork in the road to where ... now, what do I do?” said Lesnar. “I gotta follow-up with my doctors and weigh the risks and rewards. I went down there yesterday to figure out the problem. We’re waiting on a number of different tests to come back.”

In the meantime, Lesnar will be replaced by the man he beat in his July 2010 return, Shane Carwin. Watching Carwin fight Dos Santos at UFC 131 will no doubt be a frustrating experience for the sidelined and hyper-competitive heavyweight, but Lesnar hopes people will understand that there are greater things at stake.

“I wanted more than anything to fight Junior dos Santos and to win that fight and to get a shot at Cain Velasquez. I wanted nothing more than that. But now, more importantly, my health and my family are more important. So, we keep things in perspective,” said Lesnar.

Regardless of whether he goes under the knife in the near future, Lesnar vowed that he will return to the Octagon.

“It’s a matter of removing some of my colon and reattaching it, and I can’t foresee that being a career-threatening ordeal. At least, I hope not,” Lesnar said. “I’ll tell you one thing: I’m not retiring. This isn’t the end of my fighting career.

“I believe there’s a solution to every problem. I just gotta find the right solution to fix this problem. This isn’t the end of Brock Lesnar. This is a speed bump in the road. I’ve hit a lot of speed bumps in my career and this is one of them.”

He was actually born and raised here where I'm from, Del Rio, Texas. He graduated from Del Rio High School. He actually played Football with my girlfriend's brother, which is pretty cool. My GF's brother says Aaron was always into the MMA style of fighting dating back to high school. But he trains and lives in SA now. Pretty cool though that one of our own has made it to UFC....:tu

Another good card, imo.

Junior Dos Santos vs. Shane Carwin - I think JDS has had an easier road to this spot than Carwin, and Carwin is going to butt fuck the loud mouth Brazilian douche nugget.
Kenny Florian vs. Diego Nunes - I'm not a huge Florian fan, but he is fun to watch. (just kidding, I'm only picking him to get on Des' good side.)
Jon Olav Einemo vs. Dave Herman - WHO???
Demian Maia vs. Mark Munoz - The ways of Submissions are going the way of US Mail. Sure, we still use the usps, but it's so much easier to email/knock out. Expect the Wrecking Machine to do just that, wreck the sub-specialist.
Donald Cerrone vs. Vagner Rocha - FUCK YES, I love Cowboy. FOTN.

PRELIMINARY CARD (Spike TV)

Yves Edwards vs. Sam Stout - Stout underwhelmed me in his last fight.
Jesse Bongfeldt vs. Chris Weidman - Only because he has Bong in his name. (for you, Dallas)

Main card

Heavyweight bout: Junior dos Santos vs. Shane Carwin
Close fight and should be a good one. I think if Carwin is not too rusty and is healthy he can win this VIA GNP TKO or KO on the feet. JDS has fast hands and great counters so he better fight smart. The clinch is where Carwin is deadly.. In close dirty boxing. We may see that here..

Featherweight bout: Kenny Florian vs. Diego Nunes[1]
Kenny should win this VIA UD but this is a desperate move on his part to be a UFC champ. His window officially closed with the loss to Grey Maynard on winning a title..

Middleweight bout: Demian Maia vs. Mark Muńoz
Munoz sucks. Maia better find a way to sub him..

Heavyweight bout: Jon Olav Einemo vs. Dave Herman
Meh fight..

Lightweight bout: Donald Cerrone vs. Vagner Rocha

MAIN CARD (pay-per-view)

Junior Dos Santos vs. Shane Carwin

It does not calculate to me on any area I can think of that Carwin will win.
JDS is faster and quicker. Shanes stand up is stiff, Juniors is technical and with more combinations and he can counter a lot. Santos TDD is also good and it will be hell tough for carwin to get close enogh to take Junior down.
I don't know how the hell can I pick Carwin to win this fight. Esp. after watching him fade in Brock fight.

Funny thing is that I believe even before he fought Lesnar I said that he is too heavy and his weight should be about 250-255 to be the most effective Shane Carwin. Now he is around that weight.

Let's see if this gonna be a standup war and crazy fight.

Kenny Florian vs. Diego Nunes

If this fight will not bring the best of Kenflo I don't know if he will not needs to reevaluate his goals.

Jon Olav Einemo vs. Dave Herman

Demian Maia vs. Mark Munoz

Hopefully Munoz can be submitted. But it seems to be the fight that's gonna be boring 3 rounder

Donald Cerrone vs. Vagner Rocha

Surprised that many of you are picking Carwin. JDS is a very smart striker and I just don't see him getting stuck on the cage and KO'ed a la Frank Mir. JDS will pick his spots and stay away from Carwin's power...eventually catching and finishing him. JDS by KO late in the 2nd round.

That's the most probable scenario.

Similar to Velasquez vs Lesnar.
Carwin is not that fast and JDS knows how to keep distance. When both will stay in a pocket then it will be a matter who will strike clean first - JDs is faster.

So as I said IMO no matter how I slice it. It looks like Junior is favorite in this fight.

This fight should show where JDS really is. All he has shown anyone is his boxing. No kicks, no wrestling, no JJ just boxing. Yeah you get the usual line from his trainers about his TDD and ground game being amazing, but nobody has seen this as of yet. If Carwin shoots hard and JDS is able to easily stuff the TD's and work his standup then we will know he is the real deal. We'll see..

I didn't go into any detail on my picks, but after the weigh-ins I'm interested enough to offer some thoughts...

JDS vs Carwin: JDS will play the distance game because Carwin will bulldoze him if he gets in close. It all comes down to JDS's cage awareness, he needs to keep it in the center or else Carwin's strength advantage will be too much and he'll end up trapped against the cage eating fists for dinner. If he can't keep distance, JDS needs to have a clinch game ready and try to break Carwin down with knees. This will go to the 2nd round cuz they have too much respect for each other to throwdown in the first, Carwin by vicious KO.

Kenny vs Nunes:
pot-_HJahrM

There's a good reason why good fighters are dropping weight classes, but Kenny dropping another weight class might end up looking like a bad idea because speed is the name of the game that far down in the classes. I suspect he's banking on being near 160 for the fight while Nunes stays under 150, so at the very least he will have a slight strength advantage. But Nunes is prolly gonna be peppering and annoying him so much he wins a decision unless Kenny comes in ready to kick up a storm and/or make Nunes carry him around. That's what I'm betting on haha.

I saw the weigh in, Kenny looks like a skeleton at this weight. This is a guy that was on TUF fighting at MW. This is such an act of desperation on his part. No great succes at WW, had limited success at LW and now he is trying to win a belt at FW. The window is closed Kenny..

Supposedly a 90% tear of the rotator cuff and just got clearance to resume hard training like a month ago.. So will he be sharp and explosive for this fight? Me must wrestle JDS and if his shoulder is any issue at all where he is less effective, he is in big time trouble for this fight. JDS beats anyone standing at HW

JDS looked like GSP on the feet, quickly and smartly picking his shots and making a mess of his opponents face. His patience is great, but he definately has weaknesses that Cain can exploit. It really comes down to how much the layoff after surgery causes Cain, otherwise I see Overeem as the biggest threat to Cain's dominance.

Carwin lied to doctor over ability to see - http://es.pn/iy6GsN

---

I understand Carwin's reasoning, but it was the doctor's fault because all he did was ask Carwin "can you see this over here" (gesturing his hand in various motions); should have asked Carwin, "how many fingers am I holding up".

Carwin is a warrior, but I think hes done being a major player in the HW division. I think he has a about 3 or 4 more fights left in him.

Would like to see him fight someone like Sergei or Brett Rogers so we could see a highlight reel knockout.
