I'm looking for a 1 bed/1 bath apartment anywhere in North San Antonio. I'd prefer 151/410 to 1604/blanco area but I'm not locked on a location.

Does anybody have a recommendation for an apartment or an apartment they've lived at to definitely stay away from?

I'm trying to pull off a hat trick and get a nice, $5xx apartment that isn't as old as I am.

Also, any tricks of the trade/advice in negotiating with apartments are definitely welcome.

Thank You!

You may want to try the Schertz/Selma area. Traffic stinks there especially during a.m. and p.m. but there's some reasonable places.

Don't go to 151/410 unless you speak Spanish. 1604 Blanco is probably ideal or around I10 and 1604, lots of hot college girls.

I haven't found that to be true :lol But I do speak spanish.

Bluefoot near blanco and 410 really sucked for me. I hopped around 3 apt there getting further and further to 1604 and it sucked. Guess it was just bad luck or bad location. I ended up jumping the 3rd lease cause a combination of traffic, bad neighbors and crime.

151 n 1604 was good to me last year.

151/410 to 1604/Blanco is a pretty huge area.

not sure how much leverage you would have with apartments compared to a rent house. From what I know, many apartment locators will find you a place for free because they get a finder's fee from the apartments.

I'd also tell you to inspect the exact apartment (not the model) before you sign the papers.

If there is something wrong with the place, they might tell you that they will get it fixed before you move in.... don't just sign the papers and assume they will.

$5XX a month won't get you much. Good luck!

... and for this reason, if you do not use a locator, you may be able to negotiate a free month of rent or reduced rent with the manager. It depends on how big the property is. If it's a huge property, the leasing agent may not be able to change your terms. But if you drive around the area you're interested in and look for small complexes who simply put signs in the yard, you may be able to negotiate the terms. Also, if you're willing to sign a 2-year lease, you can probably negotiate cheaper rent.

For that range, yeah. To live in a nice apartment, you're looking at $800 and up for a 1 bedroom. But it sure is nice having EVERYTHING you could want only a 10 minute drive or less away.

I was paying 630 for a badass 1-1 by 1604 and Blanco. Indoor court is what sold me. Villas of Vista del Norte

A rental house in the area goes for $1000 and up. And they're decently sized, about 3 bed 2 bath. I've already looked.

Better deal than getting a 1 bedroom apt for $800, but it'll still cost more unless you're getting a roommate. And that presents a whole different set of problems.
