I still don't see how people can have large data usage. Whenever I can, I log into a wireless network to stream data. I'm usually at work when I'm not on a wireless network so I'm not using data there because I'm working.

I don't use Pandora much because I subscribe to quite a bit of podcasts so I always have something different to listen to.

I really don't get tethering because when you have a smart phone, you really don't need a laptop with you, so that's out. So how can people use so much data? I stream quite a few videos but that seems to be the only really large consumption use I have. Hell, I've never even broken the 1 gig mark on my data plan.

It's only a matter of time before Sprint follows suit. The head honcho stated that Sprint had no plans to issue caps, at this time. He never ruled it out though, so you know it's coming.

Yeah, it's pretty impossible to start pushing that limit unless you are like tethering multiple devices, or are streaming youtubes and other crap all day long. Pretty sure I've never even come close to what their ceilings are set at.

That being said, as much as we have to shell out for data service, I still don't like the idea of it being capped.

There are people who use their phones for more than you do, and now that Netflix is on android, it could get worse. I do some more data intensive stuff than you do, and don't think I would hit the cap, but when I upgrade my phone and get 4g I will probably find more to do with my phone (and nook).

Edit: If I find a multiplayer strategy game (a la Warcraft (not WoW) or Starcraft) for android, I may use even more data. (but I haven't looked too hard).

I wonder how they will do that - I am still surprised I am grandfathered for my iPhone 4 with AT&T. I imagine when it goes "4G" they will drop it, claiming it was for 3G speeds.

Here is the email my buddy just got from Suddenlink - he switched to them to get away from UVerse caps and he got a 100 Meg connect too, which doesn't hurt (Yes, 720p mkvs in 5 mins easily):

I've gone over 1 gb only twice in almost a year. Other than that, I average about 800 mb a month.

And I watch a LOT of Netflix and Hulu Plus on my phone (since I've been able to do it since I got my phone unlike Android users :) ), as well as Youtube. But like I said, I do a lot of that on Wifi networks both at home, and wherever I can jump on a free network. If I did all of my streaming without Wifi, I'd top 2 gb in a matter of days.

I'm not saying I agree with the caps, I'm just saying I don't understand how people can use so much data so quickly. Especially since streaming data tends to drain batteries very quickly, and a lot of the Android phones out there don't have the best battery life available.
