How do you know its a tornado?

Because you don't go from perfect weather to wind tunnel with anything else.

It's also quite apparent that there's objects flying in a circular motion.

General observation.

You actually can easily go from slight wind to severe wind in many situations including micro bursts and other downdraft. Thunderstorms can have straight line winds that are faster than most tornadoes.

There's no objects that are a apparent to be flying in circular motions that indicate anything but wind.

I like how the train blares his horn. Maybe the storm will get out of the way!

In fact the wind pretty much exclusively blows from right to left on that video. The rain comes mostly in that direction, the trees bend only in that direction, and the train derails in that location. It could have been a tornado, but there's nothing on that video to indicate tornado more than simple straight line winds.

this video has been around for awhile, I've seen it somewhere else before. No less amazing seeing it again, though

lol the guy reposting it yesterday putting 'def leppard' in the tag lines

I originally thought this thread was going to be about Gary Neal....

But to Manny's cynicism... this derailment was widely documented when it happened. Had to do a little hunting, but it happened in Illinois.

actually it is a tornado...i watched this video in my weather and climate course about how deadly and unpredictable tornados are. yes, and it was taught by a weatherman.

I don't know why you're laughing. First, I said it could definitely be a tornado above. Second, none of the shit you saw in the video means its a tornado. The only two threads I can remember have you watching a movie of some sorts and missing everything both times.

Congrats.

Straight line winds - that's why there was shit flying around in a circular motion. Put on your glasses, and you'll clearly see those objects.

Implying that it wasn't wicked winds from the East that twisted shit up in the air and turned over a train.
