View Full Version : Nintendo's 3DS Handheld
A basic discussion thread for games and other stuff concerning the newest incarnation from the kings of hand-held gaming, which has sold over 4 million units since late March.
Thoughts? Experiences? Comments?
I just bought one but none of the 3DS games looked appealing enough to drop 40-someodd bones on quite yet - I'm waiting for Ocarina of Time remake in 3D to be released in late June for my first 3d title. OOT should let me know all there is to know about the capabilities/limitations of the system and the 3d screen, but til then, I can't vouch for or against as I have no real experience gaming on it yet.
The 3D scren truly is 3D without glasses, though, that much is certain. What's cool is you can control the "levels" of 3D on the fly and pretty finely, making it easy to adjust to a level that doesn't hurt your eyes, as well as turn it off altogether if necessary. I'm not much into hand-held gaming but considering the 3d, and fact the 3DS is supposedly rivaling the Wii in hardware power, I couldn't resist but make the buy.
Nintendo's also going to have an on-line network similar to PSN including buying and downloading games for the 3ds, the first ever encompassing online network for a hand-held. This was one of the main things that compelled me to make the plunge so early in the console's life (unfortunately, the network isn't up yet, ROFL).

I don't want to pay out the ass just to play Zelda in 3D.
lol 3D.
you should probably not buy the console, buy zelda, or click/reply to this thread then
could everyone else try and keep the rest of this thread butthurt-free? Actual criticism is of course, still welcome. Thanks.

Butthurt because I disagree with your opinion, sound logic there.
If you enjoy it then more power to you, i'm not insulting you by saying I think it sucks.

Where did you disagree with my opinion, moron?
You said lol 3d about perhaps the most powerful console on the market right now, all things considered. That's how dumb you are, to start things.
The zelda comment was an obvious dig at me, which had nothing to do with my "opinion." You merely stated yours, in the most assholish way possible.
Don't think I haven't noticed your sniveling little comments at me in the past, either. You do the same to cry havoc and anyone else you can pile on to without being noticed. I don't know why you're a little butthurt douchebag.

"lol 3d" is just another pile-on move by you. You are too stupid to realize this is NOT A FUCKING 3D TV that everyone else in the geek forum has been hating on, it's a stereoscopic screen that does NOT require glasses.
Also realize many who do not like 3D tv HAVE voiced interest in 3d gaming.
Besides the built-in 3d, it's also an extremely powerful gaming system with a near infinite variety of development options. The 3D capability is a powerful bonus to that hard-ware.
Now scurry along, asswipe, and don't lie any more.

You write all this and i'm the butthurt one? :lmao How was me not wanting to buy a console + game (£200 +) that I could fire up on my N64 a dig at you?
What does the power of the console have to do with my post? I never said it wasn't powerful anywhere. And I don't get how I was an asshole either? For saying "lol 3D" i'm an asshole?

Thinking 3D is shit is insulting you? Thinking paying out the ass for a game i've already got is insulting you? Are you that emotionally invested in the product that me not wanting to buy it hurts your huge vagina?

:lmao the apology thread was classic. Thanks for the reminder. :tu
What early previewers are saying about Zelda:OOT for the 3DS
- "A game worth buying a 3DS for." - Destructoid
- "The game looks gorgeous in 3D." - G4
- "The visuals have been suitably enhanced for the new hardware, and it really looks terrific in 3D (seriously, the screenshots don't do it justice)." - GameXplain
- "Ocarina of Time 3D looks like it's set to stand as the shining example of how to remake a Zelda game." - IGN
Looks like it will definitely be worth the money, especially if you're like me and haven't played it since back in the day on the N64
It will also include a new Master Quest, reminiscient of the "Second Quest" of original Zelda fame, increasing difficulty and changing the dungeons around to increase replayability:
Master Quest - Once you've completed the game, you gain access to the Master Quest, a challenge for even the most dedicated player. The world has been mirror-flipped, and the dungeon puzzles are all different.
Master Quest isn't new. Came out in a bonus disc for preordering Wind Waker.

It's new for OOT, it technically was done in the original Zelda so it's not new at all for the series, though it was known as the "second quest" back then
Do you know if WW's master quest available otherwise? I'd like to try it out

It's not new to OoT. If you preordered Wind Waker, you got a free gamecube version of Ocarina of Time with Master Quest. Here's an Amazon link (used would be the only way to go):

Also, there's a Zelda promotional disc that came with Gamecube that had Zelda I&II, Oot/Master Quest, and Majora's Mask all for gamecube: http://www.amazon.com/Legend-Zelda-Collectors-Ocarina-Majoras-GameCube/dp/B0045IYMFW/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1306488544&sr=8-5
I'm sure you can find both on ebay for cheaper though.
I had both, but I let my friend borrow the 2nd one and he lost it. Now I only have the Oot/MC disc.
Nice finds and info
Have you played OOT's master quest then? I wonder if it will be the exact same or a different one.
