View Full Version : The Youtube "GEM" Thread

Post any interesting "youtube gems" here...
Here is one I had never seen (especially in HD)...
The ENTIRE performance -Live on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1965...
AzW2pHKw3Kk&NR=1
Different times for sure...but those "live" vocals beat the heel outta today's Auto-tune & lip-synch "performers"
Also...this was before "choreography" was a "must" for every song...

I posted this in another thread ...but I thought these unknowns' vocals were so damn good ...I will add them to this thread...80's song by TOTO covered nicely...

Are we talking music? Or just videos in general?
tbh I came across this the other day. I could watch it 100 times and still laugh hysterically everytime. Some lady gets clobbered by a flying trashcan in this storm :lmao

Yeah, anything....
There are some really odd things out there and they all seem to find their way to Youtube...

I used to have this recorded until my dad recorded over it (ah, VCRs). I found the entire concert on YouTube including the songs that were not aired.

You are probably right...but TV in those days was pretty grainy and shitty...
this was probably the best quality of those shows that I have ever seen...
There are a bunch of things to see in those shows...
the audience wearing their sunday best clothing, the times, the lack of special lighting for a marquee event, the unadulterated music, the untouched vocals--mistakes and all...
just a capsule of 1965...not better or worse than today...just an interesting time capsule....
and if you click on the video (only in the first few seconds---) you can view their other 3 Ed Sullivan performances which are all pretty awesome...

debatable as to whether these are really concrete walls...but still entertaining...

DOH!!!
Don't feel bad, my wife put a blue wig on the other day, took a picture and said "former member of Jem" (dont remember if she spelled correctly or not). I responded with "I was thinking one of the misfits." She looked up the misfits of glen danzig fame, and said that I was being a little harsh. I said all of that to say this: I knew the misfits and she didnt. - LOL. To be fair, there was an advertisement for Jem in the previews of my "Transformers: The Movie" tape.

Funny thing about this is I told my wife that she had the blue wig, so she looked like the Misfit that always betrayed her group because she thought their plan was too devious.
edit: damn, I just realized that I outed myself. I don't remember doing so, but apparently I did watch the show, because I can't figure out any other way I would remember plot points.
