How was the 2003 Spurs Offense ran? Just curious.

4 down, three shooters.

Pretty much exclusively Four-down to Tim Duncan. Shooters spread around the perimeter. Young Parker and Ginobili slashing. Robinson, Rose, and Willis cleaning up the glass. SJax with the ballsy shots.

Brown ran our defensive schemes...not our super-duper, multifaceted offense.

Brown will first have to hire someone to implement the offense and do the actual coaching.

Four down for 3 and a half quarters before handing it off to Speedy Claxton to close things out.

lol, it's probably as free as the leeway as he gave to LeBron.

But he has superstars on his team and LeBron didn't have any help (:cry) so he has to balance it out.

I don't know how well Kobe would take to the idea of being the 3rd option on offense with the offense working from either Gasol or Bynum in the post.

Brown says that Kobe will get the ball at his "sweet spots"

Unfortunately the Lakers are doomed regardless. When your best player is in such heavy decline and reaching bag of shit status, and you have massive contracts on complete scrubs, there really is no hope. I'm afraid even if the Lakers play the 95 bulls offense, it will result in utter failure.

What spots are those? Both baselines from 18 feet and the elbow on either side?

Below are the highlights from the comments made by Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak and Coach Mike Brown at Tuesday's news conference.

Kupchak's timeline on hiring Brown

--A week following the Lakers regular season, Kupchak said, the coaching search began.

--Kupchak said he interviewed "several" candidates informally and then interviewed three candidates, including Mike Brown, Brian Shaw and one unnamed (likely Rick Adelman).

Each interview with ownership lasted two to three hours and "were done in great detail."

Kupchak said the decision to hire Brown was partly based on the interview and his resume, including leading the Cavaliers to two Eastern Conference finals appearances, an NBA Finals appearance and being named league coach of the year (2008-09).

From Mike Brown

--Called the head coaching experience a "tremendous opportunity."

--Jerry Buss, Jim Buss and Lakers forward Matt Barnes were in attendance.

--"My goal is to continue the course and continue to help build upon the very strong championship foundation that has been laid here already. I have great respect for Phil Jackson and all his accomplishments. I don't know what size shoe he wears, but I'm not looking to fill his shoes."

"My responsibility for the Los Angeles Lakers is to provide a platform for this organization to achieve maximum success."

"I'll define the culture. I'll define roles and I'll hold people accountable."Brown said the makeup of the culture will involve trust, communication, defense and a no-excuses mentality, family environment and determined work ethic.

Brown said he talked to Barnes, Derek Fisher and his wife Candace, Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum's mom, Ron Artest, and Kobe Bryant and his wife Vanessa (including by phone, text and in person).

He said he talked to Bryant about family, last year's team and what Brown's beliefs were. "I thought the meeting in person as well as conversations on the phone went very well."

"I don't know Coach Jackson on a personal basis so I can't say what's the difference between us. I know he's older than me and made more money than me, so I'm not sure."

On the triangle offense: "We're not going to run the triangle offense, but we will have bits and pieces of it to incorporate." He said he'll base his offense on when he was an assistant coach for San Antonio. "You have to tailor your offense to your personnel."

On assembling a coaching staff: He said he will talk with Kupchak in finalizing the list. "Right now there's nobody ruled out."

Brown said he hasn't talked "in depth" with Kupchak about the current roster. "These guys are very strategic and very methodical, which is what I like."

Brown said Ettore Messina may be a part of his coaching staff.

On coaching LeBron James and Kobe Bryant: "They're two different players and two different people."

On some of the public thinking he's not fit for the job: "Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I respect that. Everyone has jobs to do. Winning will cure all that."

On coaching LeBron James: "I felt like my time with LeBron was very productive."

Brown's philosophies on defense: Shrink the floor. Don't give up drives. Give multiple effort and finishing with contesting.

On Kobe's role: "This is still his team. Kobe is Kobe. He has five titles and is one of the greatest ever. His role will not change. We'll make sure he'll have the ball in the sweet spots he likes to have it."

He said he will hold players accountable by being open to bench players, calling timeouts and point out mistakes in the film room.

He said he will give guys "ownership" in the changes to the team, but that he will make the "final decision."

They went with Brown because they know he won't piss Kobe off.

Adelman would be in Kobe's face, and Shaw wasn't intimidated by Kobe when he was his teammate.

Thinking about it now, this looks like a very wise move for the Lakers. Mike as we all know, sleeps, eats & breathes defense, this is going to cause such a huge jolt for the players. He also appears to be very enthusiastic about his young coaching career. The Lakers can definitely use a new voice and philosophy at this point and Adelman IMO is no better and quite possibly worst than Jackson at this point of his career.

The league has changed, players appears to listen and respond more to younger authority nowadays. Mike, Erik, Monty & Nate are in. Pj,Pop,Adelman & Larry Brown are out, some literally.

Question though, why is Matt Barnes the only player in that meeting?

it's 4 down.

Kobe's hotspot is at the post as shown in the chart. Kobe will post up while Gasol, Bynum and the rest of the Lakers waits for a Kobe pass when he's doubled.

Jim Buss is fresh ment, fair game. They haven't had a decent fellow for their whipping post since Daddy Vs. Kobe in the LA divorce court. It was a gentlemens agreements on Kobe in CO. & Jackson coming back beggin' for his job. Obviously there is no such agreement on Jim Buss.

He defied Kobe on Bynum.

& if the boys wanted Shaw so bad they should have rung. That's all it woulda taken.
