Each time I read a poster wanting to get a legit 6-11 / 7 foot player on this team, I always read people saying "he's got bad hands yadda yadda"

Just read it today again in one of the Ian threads.

Seriously, we don't need a fucking center to have handles.

We WON NBA Championships with the likes of Kevin Willis, Nazr Mohammed, Rasho Nesterovic, hell friggen Francisco Elson!

These guys had terrible hands, yet we were champs.

Shut the fuck up about a legit big man having bad hands. Who the fuck cares you morons.

We had shut yo mouth Tim Duncan and a prime Manu and Tony then... and Bowen wasn't bad either.

No one is talking about handles. They are talking about rebounds and the ability to catch the ball in the post (and hold on to it). Bad hands in the post with a low BB IQ = bad idea.

Most of those championship teams had moron centers with bad hands in the post.

Every one of the teams that had those players also had either David Robinson or Robert Horry playing the preponderance of the playoff minutes with Tim.

This. Honestly, if Splitter can get better at his free throws and TD can survive playing PF another year, we should be set. What we need to do is get rid of RJ and secure the 3, get some vet that can cover perimeter D, and (maybe) go for another legitimate big.

This.

Why make a seperate thread about this crap, instead of posting in the existing? 2K plus posts, and your still pulling rookie crap? And whats with your gay ass avatar btw?

Nobody wants to admit that we had centers with terrible hands.

Of course our core guys were more talented back then.

But back then, we had the core + bigs with bad hands.

Now, we have an old core without bigs with bad hands.

All spur fans want is a big that can rebound, play solid defense, block shots, is over 6'11, can score in the low post, is never injured, has enough speed to venture out into the high post, and have a high bball iq enough to be at the right place at the right time and catch the ball correctly. Is that too much to ask???

A non-undersized big who can defend is all I expect at that position.

The popsuckers and especially the yanny haters are all just petrified that if Pop actually obtained and played a legit 7 footer (like Ian or Splitter) the spurs (and Tim Duncan) might actually have a few brief glimpses of success before the championship window is officially closed.

And for all practical purposes, it's going to be almost impossible to turn back the clock and all the mental/physical damage, so the popsucker theme now is about cutting losses and saving face. Which means pretending the spurs are fine in the paint and Tim Duncan is still in a cryogenically preserved state from 2003 and that any legit big that might actually provide help in the paint has some monumental flaw that is holding them back; IE Ian has bad hands, Tiago can't shoot a 20 footer, etc.
