After praising how Shawn Marion is playing, LeBron James made one thing clear Saturday when asked how Marion is defending him: “I don’t feel like it’s one guy in this league that can stop me one-on-one. He’s the guy that’s guarding me, but there’s no one-on-one guy that can guard me.”

James is shooting 55 percent in the NBA Finals and 59 percent when Marion is on the floor. But he has taken only six free throws and said his mentality will change in Game 3:

“I have to be more aggressive in the paint,” he said. “Six free throws in two games? I do that in my sleep in one game. I’m going to make a concerted effort to be more aggressive to try to get to the rim, create opportunities for myself and teammates.”

We'll see. Everything he said is correct and there is absolutely no way a guy like Dirk should have the FT advantage over Lebron. That is one thing that has been a real surprise for Dallas that has really helped negate some of the bad things they have done: Free Throws. Coming into the series, it was logical to think a team with two amazing attackers in Lebron/Wade would shoot more FT's than a team of jump shooters with no real attackers to worry about. That hasn't been the case and even on the road Dallas has managed more FT's this series than MIA. If Dallas can keep that up and Lebron keeps settling as much as he has to allow that, it's a big help to Dallas's chances.

I don't know what to expect from Lebron, but this is one of those moments where he either becomes that transcendent player or he really hurts whatever legacy he is trying to build.

He has time. James is fortunate though that cross the way is Dallas, in particular Nowitski. As much as the NBA needs & longs for James to get his Jordan on & give them a standard bearer that Kobe was to be, but, failed to ascend to, they'll settle for one tiny frame of reference to dote upon Dirk. It's a heart warming story, with a shelf life that can be adjusted to suit Jame's ascension. The NBA will wait, and they'll decree Media to wait as well.

One bogus non call that did impact the end of the game was Miami possession ahead 90-88 with 1:20 to go. They jerk off with the ball like they had been doing, it ends up with Haslem near the FT line with 6 tics left. He should have shot, but Dirk was semi-lurking so Haslem dumps it off to LeBron. Not Lebrons fault he had to 3 pt chuck with 3 seconds on the shot clock. Dirk leaves Haslem to double LeBron. Clank. Haslem gets O rebound with great position for putback. JET jumps too soon and is riding Haslems back hump dumper style. No call. JETs weight weighs down Halslems ascent, this allows Kidd to do one of his karate chop hacks. Ball comes loose, Haslem has to jump past the endline to save it. He hurls it back towards the arc, Dallas interecepts and scores the easy layup. Tied.

Not excusing the Heats final 7 minutes of chucking.

Nobody really shuts down superstars constantly anymore, but almost all of them can be contained to below their averages. Artest keeps Lebron a little below his averages across the board. AL is right here. Left to their own devices NBA players will find a way to fail be it a possession, or, a game. Too many times the defender forces an action and gives the opponent an easy out (free throws). It's not just James, or Westbrook, but, a bevy of NBA stars.
