if you observe, chalmers actually catches the ball in midair after his foot left the ground. Legit.

True, except for that part in the rule book where it's required that you establish position in the frontcourt before you catch it, i.e. not being in midair.

Either way, that portion of the shot wasn't reviewable, so the shot couldn't have been overturned.

But, if the rule you state is correct, the call was obvious and should not have been missed live.
