About a month ago I went to New Orleans and I must say that the people I encountered were good people. Of course my experience my may not be the norm but I would like to believe it is the norm. I want to believe that the citizens of New Orleans are good people.
On top of being good people I noticed that a lot of Hornet signs were still up. This was shortly after they were eliminated and I still saw people wearing their "BELIEVE" t-shirts they got at the game. It was amusing to me that Hornetfans still wanted to believe they had a chance at beating the Lakers even after the series was over. It really made me question the overall intelligence of the city. My best guess would be that the average IQ of the city is somewhere in the range of 75-85. Nonetheless though the people were good/friendly people.
The good people of New Orleans deserve a NBA team. Not only do they deserve a team they deserve a competitive team. In order for that to happen the Hornets FO is going to have to stop letting talent go. They let two major contributors to this years championship Chandler and Peja go for nothing. Well that in the past now and the FO needs to focus on bringing in more talent to help Cp3. The kid is good. Sadly he is going to leave the city if they don't bring in more talent. The FO needs to realize CP3 is not Tim Duncan or Dirk. He will not be able to take a team full of role players and win a ring. The guy just can't do it. Don't get me wrong he is a solid piece to have on a team but he can't be the go to guy. He just is not as great as Timmy and Dirk. The sooner the Hornets FO realizes this the better off they will be.

I can understand why they let Tyson and Peja go. IIRC, Tyson was having a bad time with his ankle and they probably didn't think he could get it going again. Peja didn't play for a long time because of his horrible back problems.
I do agree, though. I would like to see the Hornets stay in N.O. and have a good team.

Good point. I'm glad you agree with everything else.

New Orleans is the type of city that needs to win with the draft, its a really fun city for tourists but its not an appealing city for NBA players to want to live in. Their drafts sans Paul have been mediocre at best

Signs are still up because those hoodrats are lazy... add up the mediocre fans like BR and it's no surprise they're moving to Kentucky, tbh.

God that would be awful. Professional sports need to stay away from that hillbilly region.

I never miss the Spurs when they're in town, and even on nearby cities... I just don't live in SA atm... I'll probably drive to New Hampshire when the Hornets relocate though, lol

To go with what you said, I agree New Orleans does need an NBA team. Out of all the small market cities in the country New Orleans is the only one I would like all the leagues (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL) to invest in. Reality is its not looking good for the city. It depends on happens with the new CBA of course. It would really suck if the Hornets moved from a great small market city to a shitty one in Kentucky.

Perhaps, I just wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they are dedicated sports fans. Lazy hoodrats is definitely a possibility. I have to give it more thought.

Hornets need a lot of things to happen.
1. First thing is the new CBA.
2. Second, the lease to the Arena has to be adjusted. Its not attractive at all to the Hornets.
3. Definitely need a local owner willing to keep the team competitive.
As far as Chandler and Peja, its debatable on whether they should have been kept. Chandler's foot was a big issue to the team and the team wasn't sure whether he would be healthy or not. They got a solid center in Okafor who isn't as good as TC, but he's solid, durable and seems to be improving. Okafor has a bad contract, but he's a solid starting center in this league. Also, the owners were looking to dump payroll to get under the luxury tax and trading TC helped. Even without TC and Peja, Hornets won 46 games and played the Lakers decently even though the Lakers were vastly overrated as proved by THE SKUNKER!
Peja was a bad contract from the get go. Dude didn't even come close living up to his contract. He had one good season. He was injured for most of his contract. I didn't like the trade for Jack, but it wasn't a bad trade. Still, the team was always much better when Peja was on the floor. He spread the floor for CP3 and was a reliable 3-point shooter.
What the Hornets need is more 3-point shooters around CP3. He only has one reliable one in Belinelli and he's only backup material. They need a starting SG, and more frontcourt help. Also, getting rid of Ariza would help. He shouldn't be a starter in this league and definitely isn't worth his contract.

This would be great for the city of NO, but bad for BR's trolling.
It's too bad none of these awesome New Orleans folk didn't end up in Houston after Katrina. We got the riff raff.

The Hornets are trying to get to 10,000 season ticket sales for the upcoming season, as they feel it will "lure" a local business owner into buying the franchise. They have currently sold 8,200 season tickets, which is actually more than they sold for the season last year, with still about 4 months to go before the season starts. That is one of the reasons that all of the Hornets signs are still around the city, because they want the Hornets to stay on everyone's mind and consider buying tickets.
The pending labor negotiations and the finaincial state of the NBA isn't helping their cause to draw much interest in someone purchaing the team.
As far as the product on the court, I think you make many valid points. The Hornets biggest needs are a consistent SG, and another big body underneath.
