War Powers Act Does Not Apply to Libya, Obama Argues (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/16/us/politics/16powers.html?_r=1&hp)

The White House says the act requiring approval by Congress doesn’t apply to the Libya operation because what United States forces are doing there doesn’t amount to “hostilities.”

Barry is so full of shit on this one. I didn't have a problem with the intervention, but obtaining Congressional approval was the right thing to do, IMO.

Yet another illegal war -- now in Yemen (http://www.salon.com/news/opinion/glenn_greenwald/2011/06/14/yemen_illegal_war/index.html)

Both The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post report today that the Obama administration is planning to exploit the disorder from the civil war in Yemen by dramatically escalating a CIA-led drone bombing campaign.

As the Post put it: "The new tasking for the agency marks a major escalation of the clandestine American war in Yemen, as well as a substantial expansion of the CIA's drone war."

But, but, but, they hate us for our freedoms!

I'm equally disgusted at the GOP passivity and chamberlain attitude on this issue...where are the war declarations for Iraq and Afghanistan?

Mr. Boehner had demanded that Mr. Obama explain his legal justification for passing the deadline. On Wednesday, Brendan Buck, a spokesman for Mr. Boehner, said he was still reviewing the documents, adding that “the creative arguments made by the White House raise a number of questions that must be further explored.”

Obama should have his dick cut off for this one.

At least with Bush he told you he was fucking you while he stared into your eyes. This asshole is leaving you red raw and sore and saying nothing happened.

So Repugs don't like dickhead's unitary executive when run by a Dem president?

Just like Repugs "panic" about THEIR deficits continuing under a Dem president?

I'm shocked. But 10Ms of dumbfuck Americans actually fall for the Repug lies and hypocrisy.

House GOP Flip-Flops On Signing Statements

http://thinkprogress.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/bush-signing-statement.jpg

a GOP-sponsored House appropriations bill is an unexpected line about restricting presidential power:

prohibits funds for the [Executive Office of the President] to prepare “signing statements,” which has been used in the past to undermine or circumvent laws passed by Congress

==========

translation: Repugs want restriction selectively on Dem presidents' power.

The redirection attempts in this thread are remarkable. And by remarkable, I mean pathetic.

See, when you've given yourself over to being a party cheerleader, any criticism of a decision-maker in that party is seen as an endorsement of the other guys.

So rather than say, "Yes, while I typically vote Democrat I disagree with Obama's position on Libya," you instead find yourself saying, "Fuck those hypocritical Repugs, they do the same thing, blah blah."

And then next time when it's a Republican President they'll say it's bullshit, and Republican cheerleaders will point to Obama's (D) action in Libya.

And we'll continue to be caught in a cycle of endless wars in an endless amount of new oil-rich nations because this fucking country can't unite in opposition of anything unless buildings on our soil get blown up.
