It's been rumored forever, and the one in front of my store actually had Red Dead Redemption at one time, but it's finally here.

This is pretty good for someone like me who doesn't have time to play tons of games, and therefore can't justify a Gamefly account, but at the same time, doesn't want to spend $60 on a game that I'm not sure I'll like. Plus, there's a Redbox in front of my store, so it's convenient as hell for me. Just pick one up on the way home from work.

I can sample the game, and if it interests me, then I can buy it. If not, just $2 wasted, and nothing more.

They've had them for a while now. They're not everywhere though.

It's nationwide now I believe. I think that's what the OP might have been referring to.

Def not nationwide yet. Still select locations.

I was looking through one a long while ago and they had some shitty game in there to rent. it was funny because it seemed to just be thrown in the list of movies lol.

$2 a day isn't bad if you are trying to decide on a game purchase. Could save you from dumping $60 on a crappy game.

Exactly my point. And actually, I've checked online for a while, and no kiosks in San Antonio had games, save for the one time Red Dead was in there at my store. But now it seems to be in full effect all over the city at least, but the rumor was they were in trial phases in select markets (if you actually looked at the menu, there was a button for games but the kiosk didn't have any inventory), and this summer they were going nationwide.

I actually typed in some random cities from across Texas and the US in the "find" option and the games are showing up in all of the cities, so I'm thinking it's nationwide now.

Again, $2 isn't bad when trying to decide to buy a game or not. And if you're like me, Gamefly doesn't cut it because I wouldn't use it enough to justify the cost.

I was hoping. My nehpew is bugging about these things now. Would be great to have a way to preview games before you buy them.

Mebbe this article is misleading then eh?

Redbox is coming to the rescue of video game rentals, adding games to every one of its ubiquitous DVD kiosks.
Starting today, all 21,000 Redbox kiosks in the United States will rent video games for $2 per night. That’s more expensive than Redbox’s $1 per night movie rentals, but it’s on par with Blockbuster’s game rental rate of $10 per five nights, and is more flexible.

Good stuff. I'm gonna drop by one later this evening. Hopefully they've rolled it out already.

Still early. I think in time, they will get new releases and more games. They would be stupid not to improve on this.
