Suns to buyout Vince Carter

The Phoenix Suns are working on a buyout with Vince Carter, per the Arizona Republic's Paul Coro.

Carter averaged 14.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game this past season.

Carter signed a four-year, $61.8 million deal in 2007. He's entering the final year of the contract, which will pay him $18.9 million next season.

The Star-Ledger reported on its Web site Sunday that the deal guarantees Carter $61.8 million over four seasons, with the team holding an option for a fifth year.

Hoopshype has it as a team option. Shamsports has it as non-guaranteed. Whatever it is, any information there is about it doesn't give any indication that it is a player option.

Bulls should go after Jason Richardson before Vince Carter. Not only is J-Rich younger, but he's a spot up shooter who doesn't need the ball in his hands to be effective.
