Let me tell you how this is going to go down...Kobe will win the next chip under Mike Brown....2011-12...Bynum gets traded...Kobe wins a back to back with Dwight now in the fold 2012-13. Kukoc has definitely improved in the trash-talking department.

"I told Michael, 'When I first got the ball from you after so long, I thought somebody was throwing stuff from the crowd, so I threw the ball back in the crowd and they said, no, no, we play with that,'" he said.

Old news. Jordan was known to be gigantic jackass.

Him, along with Pippen, destroyed Dennis Hopson's confidence for no apparent reason (see Hopson's production on the Bulls vs. when he was on other teams). Both of them tried had a public spat with Krause, and took it out on Kukoc. He killed Kwame Brown's confidence. He befriended Oakley to get a personal body guard (apparently the relationship is still going strong, Also, this was one reason Jordan hated on Cartwright).

More background around Kerr. Kerr punched back, and "earned" the respect of Jordan (ie. Jordan was a bully, and don't have the guts to challenge the ones who would fight back).

Jordan was also a gambler and womanizer.

That being said, Jordan never ratted out on his teammates, quit on them, or was, at any point, a 2nd banana on his own team.

the point is MJ was more than a Jackass as you so lightly put it :lol...He was an extremely extremely bad teammate, so much so that he was threatened with physical violence by some of the older guys on the team. How many times did Phil kick him out of practice we'll never know...He punched them in the eyes, called them faggots, and other deamaning things and all you can say is he was a jackass...:lol

NBA refs helped him cheat on his wife..I posted links to those stories numerous times...this is more than cheating and worse than what Kobe did because it calls into question the integrity of the game and some of his titles...if the refs would bring you chics to bang what in the hell do you think would prevent them from cheating for you in your title quest.

and last but not least if you think his gambling addictions didn't result in what happned to his dad and his retiring 2 times from the leauge then I have prime real estate I want to sell you Afghanistan....:lol

Jordan's teams were less stacked
Plus, Magic Johnson extended Kareem's career, let'S face it, the guy has 6 titles over a 20 year career
Jordan has won as many championships in less time

So what is your point? That MJ was a douchebag to his teammates? No shit.

Something you also forget is that most all of his teammates give all the credit in the world to him, because while he was a jerk, his style made them better basketball players, helped them become champions. They all knew that he wasnt being a jerk for the sake of being a jerk, as opposed to his never-ending desire to be the best, wanting everyone to step their game up, including himself. He was as hard of a worker as anyone the NBA has ever seen. So obviously being the best player in the world, and being the hardest worker on the team, none of his teammates could have any room to talk shit back to him. Dude backed himself up. His style was a way of weeding out the mentally weak from the mentally strong. Guys like Hodges and Stacey King struggled because they were mentally weak, and had no business getting serious burn for the team. On the other hand, guys like Pippen, Grant, and Paxson all stepped their game up, and became huge contributors, especially in the clutch.

The end result? He led his teams to 6 championships. Can't argue with the results.

Ummm... Barkley? Malone? Stockton? Ewing? Olajuwon? Robinson? Drexler? Thomas? Shaq? Mullin? Payton? I'm pretty sure all of those guys were great players that were either in their primes, or playing at a VERY high level at various points in the 90s. And he beat most of those guys in his many playoff runs.

I do think the 90's was a little weaker era than the 80's and 2000's, but it definitely had its fair share of great players. Difference was, talent was much more widespread through the league, as opposed to a few teams being unusually stacked like in the 80s (Lakers, Celtics, Sixers). MJ never played with as top-heavy talented teams as Bird and Magic did. But he did bring out the best in lesser-talented players, and the Bulls utilized the "team" concept on both ends of the court as well as any team in NBA history.

First off remove Hakeem and Shaq from the list of MJ's competiton....or if you don't want to do that then let's go based on relative or similar player position....

In the 80's, MJ was Kevin Garnett, he couldn't pass the first round of the playoffs. When Bird, Magic, and the Pistons got old and begin to hang it up, then and only then did MJ begin to win. In the 90’s he played against pretty empty teams, those which pretty much had one superstar, and that was it. Conversely Kobe lost to a team with multiple HOF’s and All-stars but he also beat that same team in Boston. MJ never did that because he flamed out in the 80's when he had his chance...

Let’s look at MJ’s competition at either guard position during his prime... His prime era was lacking with the exception of 3 players it was relatively light if you ask me. He also faced pretty much weak 1:1 defenders on a nightly basis. He was a better defender by virtue of playing inferior players. If Kobe had to defend MJ’s competition of the 90’s he’d be in a constant wet state. :lol

John Stockton, Tim Hardaway, Gary Payton, Reggie Miller, Dominique Wilkens, Kevin Johnson, Tom Chambers, Rolondo Blackman, Fat Lever, Chris Mullin, Hersey Hawkins, Ricky Pierce, Alvin Robertson, Clyde Drexler, Jeff Hornacek, Dan Majerele, Terry Porter, Sean , Kenny Anderson, Mark Price, John Starks, Mookie Blaylock, Mitch Richmond, Glen Rice, Terrell Brandon, Christian Laettner, Steve Smith, Kenny Smith, Bobby Phils, Craig Ehlo, Muggsy Bouges etc etc…

Kobe has always dealt with competition at the guard spot on both ends of the ball all the fucking time…

Offensive side: Reggie Miller, Allen Iverson, Gary Payton, Grant Hill, T-MAC, Vince Carter, Michael Redd, Jason Kidd, Dwayne Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Lebron James, Kevin Durant, Paul Pierece, Ray Allen, Derick Rose, Steve Nash, Russell Westbrook, Rondo, Monta Ellis, Mike Bibby, Joe Johnson, Mike Finley, CP3, Baron Davis, etc etc

Defensive side "Kobe Stoppers" Ron Artest, Bruce Bowen, Arron Afflalo, Thebo Shefalosa, Dahntay Jones, James Posey, Tayshaun Prince, Doug Christie, Rueben Patterson, Matt Barnes, Tony Allen, Shane Battier, Raja Bell, Stephen Jackson, Eric Snow, Andre Igoudala, Nicolas Batum

I dare anyone to make a case that MJ’s competition was stiffer than what Kobe faces on both sides of the ball. So in conclusion the only time MJ had to work hard was during the 80’s in which he flamed out., repeatedly. The Western conference has been very strong for the last decade + with the Mavericks (10 straight 50 + wins), the Spur title yrs, and the Wylie Coyote Suns, along with the Blazers/ Kings in the earlier part of the decade.

MJ- One of the greatest ever, ok fine but “The greatest ever”, hands down? Hell No. He;s not the greatest scorer (a Laker is - Kareem) He’s not the greatest stats guy ( a Laker is Wilt) and he’s not the greatest ring bearer ( a Celtic is – Bill Russell) MJ is called the best because during the 90’s basketball was boring and he brought excitement back to it as it was fading. That’s it and that’s all.

The biggest difference between Kobe & MJ is that Kobe was able to win without another Hall of Famer playing alongside him. MJ couldn't do squat without Pippen, and Kobe went back 2 back without Shaq, and Gasol isn't even a HOF's and barely an All-Star... This should put an end to it all really...

More coulda woulda shoulda garbage.

All that matters in the end, is what you did, not what you could have done. If Tracy McGrady gave a shit, he could have been the best basketball player ever. If Shaq gave effort to shooting FTs, he could have been the greatest basketball player ever. But they didnt, so its irrelevant.

In the end, what MJ did, worked. And it didnt work with just one group of guys, he was able to do so with another completely different group, aside from Pippen, and succeeded again.

He also faced pretty much weak 1:1 defenders on a nightly basis. He was a better defender by virtue of playing inferior players. If Kobe had to defend MJ’s competition of the 90’s he’d be in a constant wet state. :lol

Kobe has always dealt with competition at the guard spot on both ends of the ball all the fucking time…

Offensive side: Reggie Miller, Allen Iverson, Gary Payton, Grant Hill, T-MAC, Vince Carter, Michael Redd, Jason Kidd, Dwayne Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Lebron James, Kevin Durant, Paul Pierece, Ray Allen, Derick Rose, Steve Nash, Russell Westbrook, Rondo, Monta Ellis, Mike Bibby, Joe Johnson, Mike Finley, CP3, Baron Davis, etc etc

So did Kobe...:lol and what's really funny is he's going to do it yet again with a 3rd set of different guys...listen I shit all over you with my points...it's more than just Kobe 5 Duncan 4 or Kobe 5 and Dirk 1 and done....Kobe's about to run down MJ in rings and when that day happens bring ya ass nigga....:lol

Not reading any of this trash. im not going to get into yet another MJ vs. Kobe debate like you want to keep starting. both are great, amazing players. They both have almost identical skillsets, Kobe being more polished and skilled, MJ being more disciplined and controlled. But in the end, they both are top 5 basketball players ever. End of story.

the point is MJ was more than a Jackass as you so lightly put it :lol...He was an extremely extremely bad teammate, so much so that he was threatened with physical violence by some of the older guys on the team.

Now marinate on that for a min...

So how does the refs bringing question to the integrity of the game relate to Jordan as a bad guy?

The thing is, Jordan's antics to his teammates has never, at least directly, led to him failing his teammates. Unlike Shaq-gate, parking-lot rant, rape trial during playoffs, and refusing to shoot in Game 7.

Gasol barely an allstar? Which planet did you live on? Gasol is a sure fire HoFer, there is no question about that.

as for competition:

Wade, Iverson, Carter, T-Mac, Ray Allen, Stackhouse, Bowen, Finley, Houston, Eddie Jones, Spree, Payton, Francis, Pierce, Artest, Redd, Ginobili, Arenas, Hamilton, Joe Johnson.

Drexler, Iverson, Richmond, Dumars, Blackman, Gervin, Moncrief, Jeff Malone, Lever, Alvin Robertson, Miller, Hornacek, Marjele, Starks, Payton, Sprewell, Penny, Hill, Rice, Eddie Jones, Finley, Houston.

I would say they are similar. On top of that, the rule changes that make the game a more perimeter friendly game has certainly enhanced some of the production of the players in the 00s.

Gasol is only an HOF because he was second fiddle to Kobe on a multi-championship run.

Gasol will most definitely make the HoF, no question. He has been a top 3 big man in the league for the last few years.

Miller's prime pretty much ended in 01, so having him as Kobe's competition doesn't really help too much, as there is very little overlap in the two players' prime.

AI started to play in 96, and he played well right away, so he does have a 3 year overlap with MJ's prime.

So it seems we were talking about competition all along, not sure when productivity comes in. You were talking about something a gnat?

you posted Kobe's rookie numbers..gotdam listen to yourself man...and I wouldn't call A.I and MJ 'prime' competitors either...but fact is Kobe played Miller in the finals...

Since when did I say that has anything to do with productivity, it only has to do with demonstrating 96-97 was not Kobe's prime. I am not sure how you ran into that conclusion, perhaps you were too butthurt by someone posting less than stellar numbers of Kobe's rookie season?

Kobe played Miller in the finals, so? Kidd played Wade in the finals too, I wouldn't say the two are necessarily prime competitors. AI had a 3 year lap with MJ in their respective primes.

You keep acting as if I'm trying to compare Kobe and MJ, or discredit MJ. I'm not. I don't. I am a big fan of both players. And you keep bringing Dirk into the conversation, and I have never even mentioned him, and don't care to.

You keep making points that have no point.

He did mention bait and switch though, so he may be on to something.

And Dirk > Kobe tbh. Dirk destroyed Kobe in their lone face to face match in the playoffs, and that's all it counts.

Explain ...

And this is what my first response was:

So it seems we were talking about competition all along, not sure when productivity comes in. You were talking about something a gnat?

ok...let me try this again dumbass...when you posted Kobe's rookie numbers it's a direct correlation to productivity...it's measurable and quantifiable...in the sub context of the competition argument I originally posted you could subtly imply productivity as well by simple virtue of those players ultimately being great competition because of their stats...but my main point or argument wasn't numbers focused you tied in numbers to try and prove an argument that I quickly shot down which was A.I was not prime competition to MJ more so for Kobe...reality is Kobe played against both Miller and A.I in the NBA finals...so you lose this argument DAWG!!!:lol

Kobe is still stupid good. While I'm not sure he is the best anymore, he is still the most versatile and skilled offensive player in the league.

Ok...let me try this again numbnut…when I posted Kobe’s rookie numbers it’s directly about Kobe and Miller not having overlapped primes, it’s not even correlation or anything…I never subtly or directly implied anything about productivity, it’s you misinterpreting what was said, and acting all butthurt. I had Iverson as competition against Kobe AND Jordan, because there was an overlap. Reality is played against someone in the Finals have NOTHING to do being prime competition, competing against each other during their primes have. You are the first person on this planet to say Kidd is prime competition against Lebron and Wade…so you lost this argument CAT!!!:lol
