Fitting that it came one day after the Hill trade.

So great. I can still hear his voice narrating The Princess Bride.

Columbo was cool. Thinking about some old shows, Night Stalker with Darren McGavin was also greatness.

So you noticed? I'm sorry, sir, I tried to be inconspicuous.

tbh Columbo was repetitive and annoying. It was the same format every episode, same with Matlock. In terms of shows you had to watch with your grandparents, The Rockford Files was the best of those detective/lawyer type shows since it was more open ended and at least it didn't follow the same format every episode.

I never saw a single episode of Columbo, but I loved him in "A Pocketful of Miracles", "It's A Mad, Mad World", "The Princess Bride", and my favorite, "The In-Laws". RIP.

I'm not fully agreeing with you but what you said underlines the likeability of Peter Falk. Even if a particular story was predictable, people still tuned in.
The guy is an icon for old detective shows.
