"The Spurs apparently were active right up until the cutoff point before the lockout as they attempted to swing a late trade. ESPN.com's Marc Stein tweets that Spurs and the Knicks both were interested in 6-for-9 forward Omri Casspi, who eventually ended up in Cleveland in the J.J. Hickson trade. Casspi remained with the Cavaliers and the Spurs couldn't get the deal done before last Thursday's shutoff point."
Thoughts?
Who would this eliminate from the current roster?

Everybody here likes him, but this guy is a weak defender imo.

He's a scrub. Leonard will be a much better player than him. Jefferson is already a much better player than him. Pass.

Spurs looked at Casspi a lot while he was playing overseas. He's probably one of those players they keep in mind as a possibility for the future if available. He's still young.

Well if true this deal may have went through, but at least it shows that the spurs are still actively trying to better the team even after the draft trade. Hopefully this is a good sign that the FO still recognizes (acknowledges) the holes and flaws in this team needed to be a contender. To bad the lockout is screwing everything up right now but hopefully the FO will be back at it once the lockout it over.

I have no doubt they offered RJ for Casspi, then the Kings were like "Fuck you, end of discussion" and that's how it all went down.

Casspi always was one of the more committed players on D for the Kings. Then again, this is the Kings we're talking about, so it doesn't mean much. He was pretty inconsistent, but that might be expected for a player his age.

I would have taken him over a poor man's Corey Brewer.

Spurs need defense, and he shouldent be in the same sentence as defense. So its not bad that we didnt get him.
