Bill Walton:
"Game 2 is more important for the Spurs than it is for the Pistons. San Antonio should vividly recall its Game 2 letdown versus the Nets in the 2003 Finals. This is not a must-win game for Detroit because the Pistons are good enough to win anywhere.
But if Detroit wins Game 2, this series could be over.
WTF? how about: "If Spurs win Game2, the series WILL be over" ??
The Pistons know they just need to win one game on the road and take the rest at home. They've proven they can do it, but beware because road victories are harder to come by the longer the series goes"
Fuck you, you biased, stupid, bombastic, florid son-of-a-bitch.

I think he's just trying to generate hype for what might be a shorter-than-expected series if the Spurs take game 2.

Walton has become a caricature of himself. Most of his opinions at this point are ridiculous and silly, but even when he tries to lay out a serious basketball take he usually comes out looking like a jackass. Must win? Not for either team yet, but if the Spurs win beating them four out of five on any floor is highly unlikely. His assumption that Detroit will just close things out at home three times in a row if they win tonight is more than slightly misguided as well. Walton, more often than not, sounds just as foolish as he looks.

actually, this game is more important to the spurs. pistons have the next three games at home, that's a huge advantage for them. if the spurs don't win this one, it's going to be a lot tougher to win this series. not that i don't think the spurs will win the series. the spurs are a clearly better team, but if they don't win today, it's going to be a lot more difficult. the pistons will have all the momentum and home court.

I agree that its more important to the Spurs, if we lose this..I think having 3 games at home we can still have quite a bit of hope. Game 3 then becomes the most important game of the year. Winning this game for the Pistons simply takes some pressure off of us.
If the Pistons win this game though, the Spurs will more then likely be facing elimination if it returns to the SBC center for Game 6 and 7.
