Lol Dirk defending Duncan.
But it's sad to see how much more mobile Duncan was back then.

Not that I watched, but I bet that was the most boring 53 points in NBA history.

Nobody will miss you when you die....

53 on a decent Mavs team is bout equal to 81 on a Raptor team with Mike James as the best player.

Yeah but Tim Dongahey reffed the game, so it was rigged.

One thing that stood out to me watching that was that Tim would really benefit from sharing the post the last few years with someone who the other team's defense actually had to respect (aka David Robinson).

I was definitely in the club level at this game, so good to see 5-0 and Tim on the same court

I thought this clip was better for people who don't want to watch the whole entire game. In this clip you can see all of Duncan's 53 points in 7 minutes.

Some observations:

- Tony Parker could not finish close to what he could now. He really improved.
- When the Spurs force feed Duncan, their offense suffers, and Dallas would make a run.
- Robinson, at like 35 years old, was better than any center Duncan played with since. And it's not really even that close.
- Finley was fantastic. Very athletic, and his midrange game was unbelievably good.
- Dirk was still developing his game. He doesn't have much of an inside game, no idea how to defend the paint area, and was much more passive. He has improved by so much since then.
- Steve Nash was very much a product of the system with the Suns. He was good with the Mavs, but $66M good/2 MVP good? No way.

Funny how some Spurs fans claim "dirk has never made a defensive play in his life!!!!!!! lets see him make a game winning defensive play, like timmy has done 10000 times in his career!!!!" and Dirk basically made a game winning defensive play against Timmy in this game...

Yeah, I was a big fan of the Spider. I'd love to know the real reason the Spurs didn't bring him back. They said he had a bad hip, but he went on and played like 7 more years in Europe after they cut him loose.

Exhibit A on why Tim OWNED Dirk everytime they matched up. Once the Mavs finally figured out Dirk couldnt defend him, they took him off of him and put him on anyone else on our team not named Tim Duncan. Oh, and besides this game, the Spurs always owned the Mavs also. Classic game...good find. :tu

Ever since he had that career high of 32 points against Sacramento, he never really looked the same since. He was one of my favs on that 2002 team though.
